Hi All
First many thanks to all that supported my search so far. I just have received a phone call from John Taylor of the Southsea Motoring Club. He came with an excellent and exciting piece of information. One of the members of the club "Graham" seen the car and is adamant that it was previously own by a Charlie Page of chichester from what we beleive is 1960 to 1964. This clearly tie up with what Mrs Starley told me. Her husband bought it with the same livery from a Page Garage in Chichester. Aside being the owner of the Page garage in Chichester that subsequently became the Blue Star Garage, Charlie was also actively involved in Sprint, Autotest and Hillclimbs. So I assume he was the one that did most modifications to the car. If anyone has some information on the events Charlie Page took part into or period pictures this would be of a tremdous aded value to my project
Kind regards to all
CHICHESTER MOTORING CLUB
Charles Page, the club's chair-
man, is to sail to South Africa
on June 4 to take up a new job.
He will become manager of the
Bergvliet Service Station, a
fairly large garage some 13 miles
from Cape Town.
For Charles, who is 53, it will
be a "home-from-home" move.
He spent eight years in South
Africa as manager of another
garage, returning to Chichester
nine years ago. He has numerous
friends in the Cape area and was
a member of the Rotary Club,
which he hopes to rejoin.
His fellow club members
treated him to a surprise fare-
well dinner on Friday. He went
to the Globe Hotel with Gerry
Wearne, the vice-chairman, ex-
pecting to meet two other mem-
bers for dinner. Instead he was
welcomed by 24 people who had
laid on a special meal. Later
Gerry Wearne presented him with
a brief case given by the club.
Charles Page is also a member
of the Austin Healey Club, the
Austin Seven Club, and a founder
member of Southsea Motor Club.
DIVISIONAL MANAGER
When he returned from South
Africa nine years ago he bought
a garage in North Street, Chiches-
ter, which became known as
Page's Garage. Later this was
taken over by Blue Star Garages
Ltd., of which he became the
divisional manager, covering 25
garages.
Valerie Davison, another mem-
ber of Chichester Motoring Club,
took over the management of
Page's Garage until Charles
returned, a year later, having
completed extensive re-organiza-
tion.
Before World War II he used
to race at Brooklands, and during
his first period in South Africa
he became a professional driver.
The car which he built, and sold
on leaving the country, later won
a South African grand prix.
During the "interregnum"
between June 4 and the next
annual meeting Gerry Wearne is
to be acting Chairman and Peter
Musgrave the acting vice-chair-
man.

According to my AA Members Handbook, 1959-60, the Globe Hotel, two-stars, was in South Street, Chichester.
