Entire TV compound lost power. They probably switched it off thinking everyone had gone home.

Lasting memory of the coverage today: that Ronaldo's son seems like a horrible little brat.
Apart from that, will miss the Brundle-DC partnership next year. The best in years.

DMN (or anyone else in the know), is it true that there is a some sort of connection between the BBC and RBR? Someone on another forum (who isn't the type to BS) says that RBR 'accomodate' the BBC quite well?

This would certainly explain the BBC love for RBR.

The BBC love Red Bull because Horner, Webber & Vettel always make themselves freely available for a chat during the weekend and on the grid walks.

Always get a little depressed at the end of an F1 season. The BBC never helps with their sad little montages either. Check out the 2nd video in, "Kasabian play out the 2011 F1 Season": http://news.bbc.co.u...one/9648921.stm

Another great from the pitlane with Ted Kravitz too: http://news.bbc.co.u...ne/15913125.stm

I know this isnt the right thread for this, but has anyone heard whether Ted will be heading off to sky or staying at BBC? He's by far my favourite commentator/reporter at the races, and would be a shame to see less of him, either getting less air time with one channel, or only being shown for half the races with the other.

Not confirmed, but he's almost definitely off to Sky.

it doesn't really help the BBC's 'we're cutting costs people' argument when they do things like.....well, like shipping in Kasabian to play a little ditty over their season montage vid for instance.....

Maybe just not overawed by all the hype associated with F1!

Where is the extra added goodbye by the BBC? Its annoying that they still haven't put it up.

TBH i'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this. I'm going to have to do something i didn't want to.......... I'm going to have to tweet.

That was probably Kasabian.

Think yourself lucky - it could have been Coldplay.

Or James Blunt.

I like Coldplay :) can't stand Blunt though i distrust any guy that can sing that high ;)

Nahh, Kasabian had already been played at the end of live show, plus Jakes tweet:

The Forum in full on BBC iPlayer soon...with an extra goodbye added onto the end. Thanks for your company/banter/questions - more in 2012..?

Led me to believe we'd be seeing more then the interrupted hour.

Very sad to loose Martin Brundle from the BBC. I cant help but think that formula one it taking a backward step in its coverage. There is no substitute for watching a race live with a good commentator building up the tension and giving an insight to exactly what we are seeing. There is not a chance I could afford Sky even if I wanted it.

For the first time ever Im not looking forward to next season... :(

There was a story on one of the F1 blogs (could've been Joe Saward's?) saying EJ was chatting to a journo and said he'd only stay with the Beeb if they did the full year, so chances are he'll be back, even if it's just to help next year's Children in Need appeal again!

I still can't figure out how the Beeb save money by sending out Jake, DC, Lee McKenzie, probably EJ, crew, trucks, etc. to every race even though they're only showing half of them live. Surely the rest could be done from Salford and use the Radio 5 live interviews for after the race?

And they could save loads more expense by not sending a full team to an event they are not giving full coverage to.

In amount? No I agree, but lots of smaller amounts saved across a company soon builds into a large total. The waste at the BBC is collosal.

I agree, but the inefficiencies of their production is nothing compared to the rights fees.

Not arguing that, but if they truly are out to make savings then they should do it properly. As it is they have saved money on the F1 rights fee, but any saving was already spent and as a company they are truly wasteful.

Well, sad for you, but I'm happy he's commentating on all the races, not the crappy half arsed BBC 2012 coverage.

Yeah exactly. The hard thing to swallow is not the idea of saving money, it's the weak, inconsistent way they did it.

Watching them carry on wasting tens of millions after wrecking the coverage they finally got so right is just galling.

Some woman wrote into Points of View saying that having a presenter, two pundits and a commentator was the worst waste of public money she's ever seen.

Safe to say this woman is an idiot and has never heard of the Millenium Dome.

Quick question.

If the crew are going to every race, will there be a post-race forum for every event? Online maybe?

Can't see why not if they are all there anyway but perhaps contractual stuff is in the way?

Doubt it, they'll probably just compact it a bit and stick it in the highlights program
