Any one have any results and photos of the Opel GT's that raced in the 1970's?
The builders were Steinmetz and Conrero....
I am also interested in any other races that the Opel GT was raced in....

I don't know the details about it but I think the book 'Opel GT Motorsport 1968-1975' might be helpfull. It's in german AND english! The book was released by petrolpics.
One of the writers, Maurice van Sevecotte owns one of the four original Conrero GTs.
I met the guy once and he sure knows what he's talking about.
I have no contact but maybe the the people at petrolpics can help you out with that.

The book contains a lot of info, pictures, race results and chassis-by-chassis history. I would strongly recommend it.

In 1971 three works Opel GT 1900s tuned by Virgilio Conrero were entered in the Targa Florio, then a round of the World Sportscar Championship.
After a furious battle against a field of fast Porsche 911's and 914/6's, Paolo Monti and Sicilian driver Totò Calascibetta scored an impressive 2-litre class win, 9th place overall, one lap behind the winners Nino Vaccarella-Toine Hezemans in the Alfa Romeo 33.3.
Possibly this was the best result of the car. The other Opel GTs driven by Giorgio Pianta-Pino Pica and Gianpaolo Benedini-Giuseppe Marotta did not finish the race.

Thank you for the information.
After doing some web research, I found a couple of web sites were the car has been discussed.
www.opelgt.com is a forum on the car. They have some photos and specs. The books are also mentioned.
Thank you,
Jim
