the BMW RS 500 once was the most successful racing machine. In the sidecar class it won many championship races throughout Europe including world titles. Even in the solo class there were quite a few national championships on RS. Its 60. birthday is looming in the near future, 2014.
The German BMW veterans club would like to compile a documentation about RS. http://www.bmw-veter...?...13&pdid=154
If You like to contribute or have questions about RS please fell free to send an email.
Thank You!
Lothar

Is that a German flounce out ? It could be, Lothar, that we have no knowledge around the stuff you're interested in ?

The RS was a truly great motor, especially for sidecar racing where it knocked the sad old Manx and British pushrod engines motor for six. The only problem I have read concerning these was getting parts from the factory, which appeared not to be enthusiastic in support of private runners.
I would certainly like to know more about these engines (despite not being a four stroke fan).
