I think it is rather fitting..... rose coloured specs anyone?A quick 'tweak' on Photoshop using colour correction should sort out the 'pinkness', Vince.

Elva Porsche. See the back deck with the aperture for the cooling fan and carb intake fairings. Appears to be the Ollie Schmidt car driven in most races in 1964 by Bob Markley.

Some photos. Sorry for the "pinkness"...my camera may be on its last legs!
I just figured, as at the NFL games, we were standing up for breast cancer awareness.

Is the 917/10 from Porsche in Germany or does it reside in the States?

Indeed, I believe all the cars at Rennsport were Porsche-powered. Apparently, Hap Sharp drove an Elva Mk VII-Porsche, #75, at the 1964 Augusta USRRC. Maybe the Schmidt/Markley car?

Hi, did anybody take a picture of the Cooper Porsche R3 at this event.
Are you referring to the Ken Miles Cooper-Porsche? Was it there? The Tippy Lipe Cooper-Porsche and the Pete Lovely Pooper were. Cameron Healy came second in his race in the Lipe car, but Denny Aker had transmission trouble with the Lovely Pooper and couldn't race.
Nice footage of the weekend here:

The 917/20 "Pink Pig" is owned by the factory and wasn't at this event.

I believe this is 917/10-03, so apparently it is owned by John McCaw in the US Northwest, according to this and the 917 site:
http://www.wsrp.ic.c...orsche_917.html
Does that sound right?

I dont believe (917/10-003) is still owned by John McCaw and hasn't been since about 2004, but I stand to be corrected

Hi Vince, yes i believe the ex Ken Miles Cooper Porsche R3 might have been at the event as part of the Dr Palmez collection. Are you referring to the Ken Miles Cooper-Porsche? Was it there?

Most likely. Ollie Schmidt entered three Elva Porsches in the Augusta USRRC event for Charlie Hayes, Chuck Dietrich, and Hap Sharp. For much of the rest of the season, Hayes was the regular driver, Markley drove the white car, and the third car rotated among a number of others.Indeed, I believe all the cars at Rennsport were Porsche-powered. Apparently, Hap Sharp drove an Elva Mk VII-Porsche, #75, at the 1964 Augusta USRRC. Maybe the Schmidt/Markley car?

Sharp drove an Elva Porsche at least one other time. The first car in the States, the car that Bill Wuesthoff and Augie Pabst drove to win the 1963 Road America 500, ran an SCCA Regional at Wilmot Hills, Wis., just before the 500 as a shake down test. Sharp drove it and won.

It might have been at the Quail on Sunday. We didn't go to that.

The reference I believe is to do with the fact that 037 does not resemble theLivery of any car that ever raced. 037 never existed as a complete chassis during the racing of the 917's during 1969 to 1971 and the Martini team never raced in that configuration.

So this car?

Is this the Thompson/Freisinger car, built on an unused 917 chassis?

Yes, Thats the chassis. I believe Carl Thompson bought the chassis direct from Bauer in Germany, who actually built the chassis for Porsche in 1970. They used it for apprentices to train with.

The middle driver is Rusty French, an Aussie who has been racing since the 60's. He has competed at Laguna Seca a number of times in one of his Porsche 935s.
