Twitter was saying it may have been cardiac arrestJust saw it. His helmet was ripped off during the accident so he must have had massive head injuries.
Truly awful. My thoughts are with his family, may God give them the strength to come through this painful time.

RIP Marco

I'm currently unable to watch Moto GP live in TV so this is a double shock for me.
Way too many tragic accidents in motorcycle racing happened lately.
Rest in peace Marco. You'll be remembered.

Cardiac arrest often occurs with massive head injuries. Had a feeling it was extremely bad when his helmut was torn off. So sad.

When I saw it live I thought it was one of the worst crashes ever. But after a while news came out saying he was conscious and OK. Rewatch the crash and thought, ok, maybe it just looks way worse than it is. Went doing other stuff. Half an hour later I look on twitter again and it is reported he died.. quite an unexpected blow.
The live vid (which has been taken down from youtube) was really sad as it featured the shot of his girlfriend (I assume?) crying right after the crash. Poor girl

Edit: here it is, at 44s

I hope neither him nor Rossi feel guilty about this. It was just a freak one. Terrible, freak accident. Not another one. Motorsports are sometimes so very hard to follow. My thoughts are with his family and friends and also with Colin Edwards who is going to be feeling terrible about his involvement. A sad day.

It may remember us, saloon racers and couch drivers, how dangerous motorsport is, and how much respect any driver deserves.... less bashing and more watch and enjoy....

R.I.P Marco... saw it live and it was painfully obvious it would have a tragic ending.... I haven't seen no deaths live since Senna Ratzenberger Imola 1994, and I've just seen two in a row this week...

Absolutely. The next time we have a safety car start under heavy rain, instead of bitching, perhaps we will remember these are real peoples lives, and they can be taken away so very easily.
I am proud of how far safety has come in F1. MotoGP it is impossible to be any safer, I suppose.
