Thanks... I just ordered this die-cast model: 1:18 Porsche 917 long-tail
I've always thought that the 917s were the most beautiful racing cars ever made and I've wanted a model of one of these for years. This particular 917 maybe doesn't quite have that mean-looking headlight arrangement of the other 917s, but ooohhhhh, that long tail...

Thanks, cheapracer...
Don't know just what exactly happened here, but when I saw your post, it triggered a long-time and deep-seated need in me to finally have models of these beautiful cars.
The 1:18 1971 Porsche 917 long-tail arrived the other day. A beautiful car... I have a 1971 917K and the 1970 917 long-tail #25 on order. Both 1:18.
I think I'm done now.

I'll bump this one last time...
These 1:18 diecast models are from AUTOart. The #25 long-tail and the #3 "hippie" long-tail aren't entirely accurate as near as I can tell. The tail is more "up swept" than on the originals. Not sure about the #21 long-tail. But that's OK. These are beautiful models of beautiful racing cars.
I have the #20 "McQueen" 917K ordered, but it's on back-order status at the moment.

Phwoar! Downloaded and thanks
I have the McQueen car in 1/18 and several 1/43 variants - mostly Ks. Also a 1/64 1970 LeMans winner from Corgi.
But is there such a thing as 'enough' 917 memorabilia?

Always loved the 917 and was a kid at Brands when Pedro drove THAT race! WOW! Have several model 917's including 1/18 Gulf by AutoArt and AutoUsdau by Universal Hobbies and some Solido and Corgi 1/43 but pride of place is a plastic 1/18 Gulf model purchased at the Brands model shop. My parents could only buy one as they were expensive so as I supported the 917 and my brother the 512 it was mine! Have seen a similar one for sale last year for several hundred pounds so hanging on to mine! Think it is a promo model because there are no manufacturers names on the bottom. And sorry, have no way of getting a picture on here.
