DIRECTV Dropping Speed Channel In USA

As of this moment Fox and Speed Channel are locked in a dispute over price increases being demanded by Fox. If it's not settled Directv will likely drop Speed Channel and that will mean many of us lose live F1 coverage in the USA unless we switch to cable (which I personally do not want to do). If the worst happens, can any of you please PM me links to any live net streams of the F1 races. I'd appreciate it.

Tail wagging the dog? Fox has so much power that they can hold content creators and channels to a ransom. IMO tihis company should be broken up into smaller entities for public good.As of this moment Fox and Speed Channel are locked in a dispute over price increases being demanded by Fox.

Knowing Fox I have to say it doesn't surprise me that they're doing it. They've been slowly gaining more and more prime interest in US broadcasting knowing that they could cash in whenever they want and the rewards would be huge. The idiots in America should never have given Murdoch so much influence. Now the people that count (the viewers) are getting screwed. I'm just hoping someone can refer me to a reliable live net feed of the F1 races. I'd rather see it on the net than switch to shitty non-HD cable.

I read that as DirectTV being unreasonable, not Fox, especially as it's a DirectTV leak that says 'as much as 40%' which is not very forthcoming on who wants what.
DirectTV will be the one that takes a hit from this customer, they charge an awful lot for what I get now, in the region of 80 bucks a month. Unfortunately, there is no cable available in the remote area I live in, I have to have sattelite or nothing at all.
Is there another sattelite service available that carries Speed in the US?
If so, Direct can come collect all their crap if they cut off Speed.

...which pretty much says the same thing, 40% increase, a number released by DirectTV.A reliable source on TV issues is http://dalyplanet.blogspot.com/
Sounds like a battle of the spokesholes, and not the negtiators.
Checking out what Dish offers now....

2. Signup for public UK VPN service
3. Watch in the BBC iPlayer with superior quality and NO commercial breaks
$10 a month.
Of course, this solution will not work for 2012, curiously because of Rupert Murdoch, a Fox SOB. But it will get you through the last 3 races should that happen soon enough.

Just read up on it and there is a LOT of Fox stations that DirectTV wants to drop, using the reasoning is that Fox has upped it's price for some of those stations as much as 40%.

This does suck... As much as I hate to say it, maybe it's time for the Federal Government to step in aka Ma Bell back in the day.

And Time Warner Cable too. As a viewer and customer I hate feeling like the rope in a tug-of-war.I wouldn't worry. FOX has gotten into these disputes with just about every broadcast supplier there is in the US over the last handful of years and it always gets resolved. I'm pretty certain they just did this exact song and dance with Dish Network about a year ago.
