I commend Karthikeyan and de la Rosa driving this HRT despite them not fixing their brakes. Both cars out in Canada, Karthikeyan in Korea qualifying and now today.

Simple fact is that the brake ducts aren't big enough, must try harder there!

Did anyone else notice that Bernie told Martin Brundle during his interview that HRT was the only team not to have entered the 2013 World Championship yet?

That's two consecutive races that PDLR has had mechanical issues with his car.

Let's hope HRT sort out the brake issue for the next race...

There's a news piece in El Confidencial talking about closing up the outfit if no buyer is found before Dec 2nd...

Potential buyers would probably only be interested in the slot anyway.

Even though HRT are the team I support the most in F1, I would rather see it getting bought buy a Stefan GP-ish dude, and being on the grid in 2013, then just vanish. The more cars, the better.

HRT if they are to be bought it has to be by someone with credibility. That Stephan GP bloke was a joke. This team can't afford another season like the one they've just endured.

There is always room for dodgy balding guys with cardigans from middle europe in F1 in my eyes...

You can't mean Kolles. I would think every HRT fanboy would have sold their Mothers for Kolles to have been given the sort of money the present owners have wasted. He demonstrated financial sleight of hand to rival the ringmaster himself.

No.

Things have changed, there is no market for slots outside of what is already defined in the FIA regulations. Due diligence was a mess with the new teams in '08 and '09 (because Mosley needed political allies) and this culminated into the Stefan GP joke the previous poster mentioned. (would have been fun to see JV in the toyota though  )

Right now there was a 13th slot available at the FIA which came with no useless baggage in Spain. If anyone was interested, the application window was between June 30th and July 15th, the normal fee needed to be paid before November 30th.. and of course a car would be at an advanced stage of design somewhere. There is always the possibility for a late entry but there is an additional fee and there are no guarantees you'll be accepted, so nothing serious will ever come from that as Stefan GP has shown.

The status of the HRT entry for 2013 is an interesting issue because there are rules and deadlines to be respected. The entry fee needs to be paid in full by November 30th (US$500,000), and assuming HRT has submitted their 2013 entry form at the correct date, it comes with an agreement that any changes (like an ownership change) must be notified to the FIA in writing within 7 days of such change to allow reappraisal of the entry.

The FIA is supposed to publish the entry list on or before November 30th as well..

Right now the only option for an eventual buyer would be to convince the FIA that will meet FIA standards (thanks to Flavio there is a license system now for people that operate F1 teams) and that racing the same roughly updated shitboxes for another year is a nice acceptable plan.

What do you mean NO?
There is one slot for totally new entrant in 2014, and second one by taking (potentially) over HRT's slot in 2013. Right/wrong..?

The HRT slot provides no guarantees whatsoever, that was the point.

Another way to look at it is that the only thing HRT has to offer is the cars and some stuff in Spain, the entry goes back for reevaluation at the FIA whenever there is a change to the current HRT team structure.

So, the options are:

-someone buys HRT, pays half a million dollars to the FIA before Nov 30th, convinces the FIA of various things (they are good people? they are in for the long run? the cars will be safe? etc..) and they race in 2013.

-bye bye HRT... 11 teams in F1 for 2013.

There are rumors that they might not be able to race this weekend due to lack of parts.

I'm still amazed that people think he was legit. He's a compulsive liar with a company that makes less than $1000 a year.

Everything I've read suggests that HRT's headquarters has already been emptied - staff gone, equipment, desks, computers. They're basically going to see out the final race so as not to incur a hefty FIA fine then they'll be done within 24 hours.

HRT mechanics have gone on record saying that they are essentially out of a job.

I'd like to see HRT survive in some capacity but it seems highly unlikely.

22 cars next year. Ecclestone wants fewer cars anyway so I guess he has his wish.
