All the info.
Thanks for the info
Unfortunately i missed Jenson's drive around Manchester, so I'm definitely not missing this. Looking forward to seeing Vettel and the RB7 in the flesh

Fairly sure it will be the bastard Red Bull show car.
That it will be.
I'd imagine MK will be bedlam on the day in question. Parking is a nightmare at the best of times at the weekend, let alone when you have a popular demonstration taking place.

I thought it was the FIA Gala tomorrow in New Dehli? Horner & Vettel are going to be very weary on Saturday!
You think they've got it bad?
Webber's been in Tasmania for the first two days of his Challenge (and he competed the first two days - Wednesday and Thursday). Then he's flying straight to New Dheli for the Gala, and presumably hopping straight on a plane to England to get back for the showrun. Then, as I understand it, he's going to try and make it back to Hobart in time to greet the finish of the Challenge. Vettel and Horner are going to look fresh as daisies next to him.

Webber's even stated that he'd rather be anywhere but India on Friday night. Says he keeps the suit/tie occasions down to 1

Apparently these things all come down to who you sit next to.

Wasn't really all that fussed in seeing a demo car pacing up and down the centre of MK, but DC ragging the Camry was pretty boss.

Parking was surprisingly easy I thought. Did less people turn up than expected I wonder?

Indeed. Is there any other chance of seeing a proper Nascar in Europe?

Got some decent snaps and some reasonable footage amongst all the heads in front of me too.
Just wish I'd got my elbows out more in the scrum to get Sebs autographs to add to the one Horner gave me, but i can't complain with being stood 6ft away from one of the best drivers in the world as well as seeing Mark, Adrian and the team up close.
The only thing that tops this is to go to a race weekend and see them wringing the neck out of the thing during a qualy lap.

I find all thee events boring. A few wheelspins and donuts aren't for me.
I get your point, but for me its the first time I'd seen an F1 car (regardless of what spec it was) running. Sure I want to go and see 24 of them at a race weekend but considering the only costs for me were a train ticket, a Vettel beanie and some food/drink it made my day.

Don't get me wrong. I used to love these things. And I'm glad you enjoyed your day. Seeing an F1 car for the 1st time is something you'll never forget.
I'm just a boring old get when it come to donuts!

Whats with the "put down" tone ... they are actual F1 cars !Christ know what you'd do if you saw an actual real F1 car
And the atmosphere was great if you are an RB fan ...

I'm not sure if it was because of the real old school periscope exhausts on the show car but it defiantly wasn't as loud as when at a race. I will always remember the first time i stood trackside at the old abbey chicane, right against the fence about only 3 or so meters from the curb on the exit and it was painfully loud, but in an amazing way. Yesterday it sounded kinda flat and quite in comparison, the Camry (not the impala! idiot, hehe.) stole the show, sounded great and super loud.

Think it's more to do with them not running at the max at these events.

The Red Bull showcar is a mix of RB1 and RB3, with RB7 styling, running a toned down Cosworth engine. It's a Frankenstein machine.

What? Where did you get that from? There is nothing about that car looking RB1 or RB3-ish. Why would they go through all the trouble of taking an RB3 and then changing all body parts to RB5-spec or later to match the looks of the post-2008 cars? The Red Bull showcar is a mix of RB1 and RB3, with RB7 styling, running a toned down Cosworth engine. From looking at it. The actual chassis (airbox and sidepods) is in fact from the 2006 Toro Rosso STR1 which was the 2005 Red Bull RB1 but with a modified airbox entry. Show car for reference.
Then you look at the show car diffuser which is also pre-2009 regulations, because it's actually the RB1 as I say. The cockpit sides are also too low for post-2007 cars.
They've only changed the exterior bodywork (sharkfin, wide front wing and tall rear wing), not the chassis, to fool casual and inattentive fans, in thinking it's a real F1 car. It's not, it's a bastard.

The airbox does look different from the RB5 now that I look closer. I always looked at the raised edges of the front of the monocoque and thought it must be a RB5 chassis, as it was the first chassis to feature that. But they must've added that to the RB1 monocoque then. Weird that they would go through all that fuss to replicate something they could've taken from the beginning. From looking at it. Obviously they can't use too recent a car due to the regulations and lack of testing. I remember reading that McLaren had been using the mp4-23 2008 championship winning car for their demos for a couple of years, deciding to skip the the mp4-24, but for next year will be retiring it and using the mp4-25 from 2010.
So, theoretically Red Bull could have been using the RB5 (or the STR equivalent) this year but chose to this 'Frankenstein' machine instead. They do show the car(s) at pretty extreme places, like in Texas on the track before its built and on the beach somewhere, so for financial reasons it would be silly to risk a rare and valuable race winning car on such rough terrain, that probably has to be rebuilt completely between each event. And since they have constructed this kind of car for those events, they might as well use it in the tamer events such as MK.
The other thing that could be an issue is that the RB7 and presumably the RB8, is a direct descendant of the RB5 and there may still be many secrets on that car when you examine closely. By sending it out all around the world with demonstration team(s) you would run the risk of someone getting a close look at it. The McLaren on the other hand has been reinvented each year, and also seems to be tested in much more controlled situations.

For practical purposes, these cars need to be low maintenance, go anywhere jobs that can be run with the minimal amount of back up.. Red Bull makes good use of its F1 presensce, my mate said they had one in Asda round here the other week, which will be a chassis with old stuff , and a frame to replicate the engine and box.
I think the Toyota Nascar is the same one they ran in when i was racing in Belgium last year, which again is probably a Nationwide/Spint car mongrel.
Im glad they got to do it, seeing the cars run at all in the UK is hard enough as it is.
