Yes, it wasn't bad at all, but pretty much what we've come to expect, less 'fluff' and more about the cars and racing would have been good. It's a bit odd in some ways, they aren't aiming for a mass audience on ITV4, so I can't see why they think so much fluff is needed. In the absence of a dedicated TNF channel though, it's probably as good as we'll ever get. Given the millions who happily watch hours and hours of often tedious 'effwun' coverage, I'd have thought that a proper effort concentrating mainly on the racing would have got good viewing figures.
I doubt that ITV made the programme for the ITV4 audience. It looks like a sort of one hour package that will be offered 'world wide' and in an effort to be all things to all people they have to add in all the rubbish about the ball, what people wear etc. Still far too many oiks turning up wearing military uniforms with the notable exception of Johnson Beharry.

Having had exactly the same thing done to me by the BBC in another sphere some years ago I should be on his side, I suppose - but he did seem very much simply to verbalise the picture (for the benefit of blind viewers, one assumes) rather than add value to what the viewer can already see, which IMO is what a good television commentator should do.
In terms of balance the programme, ironically and irritatingly enough, probably got it spot on. One only has to try and walk around, especially on Sunday (not as bad this year as last, it seemed to me) to realise that the majority of those present have not come to watch the motor racing. I suspect, and DCN could confirm were it so, that the content balance of that programme is a fair representation of the economic balance the organisers now aim for in the weekend. You want to run the world's best historic motor racing extravaganza in a truly spectacular time-warp theatre, so you need the sideshows to fill the theatre, you need to fill the theatre to attract the commercial support and the corporate spenders, you need the commercial supporters and the corporate spenders to provide the wherewithall to put on the show in the first place - and of course, to make a little something off the top. The tv show is just selling the bigger show.
I wonder to whom I should direct my suggestion that, in addition to making the general-viewer programme, they get Motors tv to come along and shoot, or otherwise air the footage already shot, of the classic racing itself. Then they and we would have the best of both worlds. And we could watch the Revival on Motors tv over and over and over again.
Added as an edit: but Tony, I like ERAs

The Goodwood Revival DVD fulfills this role. And of course it allows you to skip the bits you don't want to watch. I miss the on-board footage they used to have though.

Is there a possebility to watch the ITV show about the Revival in the internet? In Germany is no coverage at all about the Revival on TV.
In my experience TV transmissions on the net are usually blocked outside country of origin and it's not available for view on demand anyway, you might try watching the scheduling on BFBS ?

I remember those Rod Leach ads.
Not sure of the number of the one I mentioned, but I did find a couple of photos from another event on flickr:

I didn't catch that one during practice on Friday :-(

Possibly Duncan Fitchett, Elise?I caught the second half. They talked about Jeremy McWilliams' and Duncan Ricketts' great performance in the bike race, but showed almost none of it. The TT sequence was quite nice though.

I hope you are correct. The last (or perhaps I should say 'most recent' - we shall see) Goodwood DVD I bought was simply the tv show re-hashed. The DVDs are based on the TV show but much longer (last year's came on 2 DVDs with 192 minutes of coverage) and include all the races.
Edit: just checked last years DVDs
The main program lasts 45 minutes so presumably its the ITV program. It has 30 minutes of race coverage. In addition on the first DVD there are 9 minutes of the Ford Parade, 9 minutes of the Fangio tribute, 9 minutes of the Spitfire tribute and 30 minutes of bike racing. The second DVD has 90 minutes of the races not on the TV program and is just the racing.

You can use a VPN provider, WiTopia is a good one, to change the location of your computer.
Today I watched the Giro di Lombardia from RAI Sport 2 for example.

Here is the view from Mr Nye's perspective.

I observed how the chap running the show told his drivers to avoid such issue and concentrate on the tacho needle and the track.

Anyone ever thought of attending dressed as the late Roberta Cowell? Go on, you know you want to.

Cross dressing at Goodwood is nothing to be embarrassed about as I found out last year.

Scene: TV exec’s room. The exec is interrogating a colleague. In the absence of a dedicated TNF channel...
Exec: So let me see if I’ve got this right, Brown. The demographic is 100% male and over 50.
Brown: That’s right, Sir.
Exec: And they’ll watch this TNF Channel on their computers, on their own.
Brown: Yes, Sir.
Exec: And those road car and watch ads we’d hope to broadcast. You’re telling me they don’t want them?
Brown: They don’t want commercial breaks at all, Sir.
Exec: But that Louisa Skipper babe we’d lined up. Are you sure they don’t want her?
Brown: Quite sure, Sir.
Exec: Yet that Nye guy. They want him to present everything? Even the weather report?
Brown: Especially the weather report, Sir.
Exec: Brown.
Brown: Yes, Sir?
Exec: You’re fired.

my Competitor of the Weekend - twice World Superbike Champion Troy Corser on a pre-war BMW; on a bike with no suspension worth a mention he was bucking and weaving and brushing the track with the cylinder head every lap, riding as hard as if he was trying to clinch the WC.

I loved how he tucked his shoulder in at the chicane.

Anyone who has enjoyed the aviation side of the Revival will be sad to learn that long time commentator Peter Eager died a few days ago. He made a valiant effort to commentate this year, determined to have one last go. We will remember his style and knowledge.
Chris
Valiant fighter to the end. RIP Mr Eager

Long on style, short on substance. Talking heads galore and the one thing I wanted to hear- call me old fashioned but it's the cars not the panto- was the cars themselves.Inaudible thanks to voice over and mood music. And obviously some footage of His Lordship flogging books on how to dress at Goodwood was a vital piece of information....

Re post 446.... Believe it or not, that same Rupert Keegan imposter was driving a Triumph TR.3 in the Mtahleb hill climb in Malta this very day.

There's probably a post on a forum somewhere from a person with the soubriquet 'keegs', telling how he met a man in Malta who looked remarkably like one B Boor, though of course he wasn't fooled for a moment.

Co-incidentally, I had a missed call from Malta on my mobile last evening at around 5pm, was it you or Rupert, Barry?!?!
I ask that because said Mr.K keeps "poking" me on Facebook, (a feature I've never understood?!?!) If you see him, tell him I'm having dinner with an old friend of his, Jo Gilbert (Sinden) in Southport tomorrow evening.

I'm pretty sure that's Rob Hall, without his usual helmet, in the W154, he tested the car at Donington some weeks ago.
Interesting on Friday I have some else I do not recognise in the A-Type![]()
Any help will be much appreciated.
I have talk to a Friend at the Essen Motorshow last week. And he is pretty sure that HARALD DEMUTH was driving the Auto Union in Goodwood on Friday.
Harald Demuth was German Rallye Champion in 1982 & 1984.
