WOW, 89, and after a heart transplant no less!

My Dad had a '69 GT500 for 20 years so I have a soft spot for Mr. Shelby — though my chili is far better. :)

Happy Birthday, Legend!

More pertinently because of a heart transplant, hence his charity.

Just received a phone call from Jim Sitz informing me that Carroll has passed away.

What?!

Let's hope that it is only a misunderstanding of a poor example of bad taste from nearly two years ago.

Never believe Wiki; unreliable.

Having said that, I have been unable to verify what I heard yesterday, and apparently I misunderstood what I was told. I apologize for the confusion.

Someone has disinterred a years-old "satirical" piece. It's odd how such mean nonsense give pleasure to a few miscreants. And how many don't mind passing such things on without bothering to confirm the "facts" or consider the consequences.

Absolutely, and I really admire that! Giving back is the only way to fly.

We had a house guest in the late-'60s, who at that point was the longest-living heart transplant patient. Five years then, which was a really long time in those days. He died a few years after that, and a Milwaukeean named Betty Anick took over the "longest survivor" mantle for a while. Carroll's longevity was unheard of then, of course.

Long Live the King (Cobra).

Never believe Wiki; unreliable.

"Never?" It's been reliable for me so far, and (thankfully) this time as well.

I suppose that after the problems of transplanting a Ford V8 into a poor unsuspecting AC Ace, dealing with a simple like-for-like transplant closer to home would be a pushover :)

Never may be a tad strong, but I am always a bit leery a facility where "garbage in, garbage out" can occur.

Mr Shelby was in an ICU for a month or so, but is now in recovery and conversing with distant associates by telephone. This is good news and relatively reliable, I hear.
