I'm sure there's people out there who want it to come back and are willing to watch the races.

Not me though. Just another bland spec single seater series.

For a "bland" spec single seater series it was quite entertaining. I fondly remember a few races, and that Durban street circuit in South Africa which was brilliant. But it's not coming back.

Isn't that the same website we had last time A1GP was meant to be coming back? Meh unless it's just me the counter is actually frozen, looks like a placeholder website abandoned for ages now...

It would appear to be quite recently modified.

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
$('#countdown_dashboard').countDown({
targetDate: {
'day': 01,
'month': 8,
'year': 2012,
'hour': 00,
'min': 00,
'sec': 0
}
});

$('#email_field').focus(email_focus).blur(email_blur);
$('#subscribe_form').bind('submit', function() { return false; });
});
</script>

Ah thank you, seems like I was mistaking it with this this old one from the old thread I just remembered.

Still looks like someone making something up in their bedroom however. Wouldn't want to stick my email in there...

I tried, clicking the button just caused my iMac to try and open Mail.

A Belgian journalist wrote in the past week,
that this is the evolution of the 'leftover' of Superleague Formula.

As what I could read, it looks like all football teams names have been dichted and it will be a new A1 GP type of championship.
Althow that's the idea.. but some former Superleague teamboss said that he knew nothing about that yet... and that it was as quiet as it could be on the side of the organisation/promoter.

The registrant details for the domain name look interesting...

Registrant Name: Monieque Kleinzandvoort
Registrant City: deventer
Registrant Country: NL
Registrant Email: info@gpnu.nl

I've removed some of their details, but not only is it suspicious that it's registered by someone from the Netherlands, but their Email address relates to gpnu.nl, which, coincidentally, contains contains this post announcing the possible revival of A1GP.

So, looks to me like they're making their own news up. Why? Probably to harvest people's Email addresses from that (so called) A1GP countdown webpage.

terrible / bland

what?

this was the series I enjoyed most aside from F1. I love the concept of driving for the pride of your nation. I just hope there can be a 191 car grid to represent each and every one nation!!

A1GP had a lot of potential. I don't think it needed the nation vs. nation aspect. As a low cost alternative to F1 it was great for the spectator. When they did Algarve I got a grandstand seat and paddock pass for less than €100. The series had entertaining racing and went to places that F1 couldn't or wouldn't. Brands Hatch, Portugal, Holland, New Zealand all had World Championship level races and entrants due to the series.

I'm hardly convinced by the site linked in the OP. If A1 or a similar series was set to return it would have to do it right, with major advertising and proper race deals. I've always liked having some sort of F1 alternative. The best I had in my lifetime was CART in the 90s. A1GP wasn't a bad alternative, especially as it filled the winter season. Sadly Indycar isn't up to that standard at the moment.

Nah, it's just a sham to steal your emails and do god knows what with them.

It's obviously not professional work, the images are all stretched and whatnot.

Not dot put your email there.

It seems that it may indeed have a heartbeat..

http://a10.gpgrid.co...some-good-news/

We have just received some very good news.

Not from A10ws but from A1worldcup.

We are informed that a very special signature could be applied to a document next week.

This could be a real smile sharer.

Total waste of time.

Chuck sedan bodies and rock hard tyres on them and watch the crowds flock.

Yes, I rather enjoyed it; the only formula I regularly watched beside F1 for a couple of years, providing some good racing and showcasing some youngsters that went on to be big names.
