I still hold belief that Toyota is ready to take their #dieselkiller to the front this year. Regardless of what anyone thinks. They need to, take Peugeot's spot to challenge Audi.

Agreed. I will still watch Le Mans but if it is an Audi cakewalk, it will be a little dull.... to say the least.

As for the win on Sunday, sell on Monday thing, it's a bit late for Peugeot to come to the conclusion that it doesn't work, after being hard at it for five years - once again, at the last second too. So that had nothing to do with their decision.

In America, BMW and Mercedes are topping their selling lists. At all time high.

Interesting that you think their cars/markets/target audience/etc. is in any way comparable to those of PSA. There'll always be people who will buy a Mercedes (even if they are in China), but the crisis hit those people who have the choice between a Peugot and a.... say, Dacia.

Actually, premium brands make most their money off the middle class, something they had to cope with in 08 and especially 09.

I've heard rumours that they're even considering making Columbo pay for his own cars.

Where does that leave Patrick Jane?

Yes very sad, the economy in Europe is terrible right now so I don't blame them but I'll miss the Audi battles for sure.

I know a Peugeot dealer in Germany,

Germans buy French cars!

That's like the Russians buying a Chinese fighter jet. I'm sure it's ok, maybe slightly unreliable, but don't they do it themselves better?

PSA think they are as good as Mercedes... just check their prices. Citroen C6 anyone?

If you imagine that Mercedes are more reliable than Peugeot these days, try talking to a few Merc owners. A friend of mine has just had a £1,500 bill for his Merc a few weeks after the warranty ended. Continual electrical problems - windows opening themselves and then failing wide open (fun when driving across France in the winter rain), wipers failing (ditto), lights failing, aircon packing up, plus some mechanical grief as well. He is now buying a VW instead.

Andrew Cotton on Garage 56 form the June 2013 edition of Racecar Engineering:

The 2014 rules focus on a combination of internal combustion (IC) engine efficiency and energy recovery. Garage 56 aims to look beyond this, but its first two occupants have been entrepreneurial and innovative small teams that have perhaps been a bit too far out of the box. What the ACO now really wants are manufacturers that will try and exhibition technologies with road car potential. Hence Nissan in 2014 and - if rumors are to be believed - Peugeot in 2015.

We have seen reports on Nissan's 2014 return to Le Mans through Garage 56 (Nissan to build all-electric Le Mans car for 2014 and Nissan's Le Mans return influenced by 2012 DeltaWing success), but I haven't ready any reports that corroborate Cotton's claim that we could see a return of Peugeot in 2015. Did I miss something? Does anybody have an article that confirms this story? Or is it merely paddock talk?

That's why the manufacturers go racing, so it's a good fit.

Of course not, you'll only get a small bump in sales no matter which series you're racing in. But Deltawing showed the amount of marketing impact you can make through Garage 56. Hell of a lot cheaper than trying to run a front running team.
