One of the riders I have always admired is Steve Patrickson. In 1990 I was at Jerez and saw one of his very best rides in the 125GP. He had a fantastic ride that day to 5th place and we cheered ourselves horse pushing him on. He had a long and sucessful career and recently I came across his profile online and it shows what a great rider he was during that career from 1981 to 2002. Reading through the results you come across lots of well known names from British racing that have come and gone ans Steve raced them all. At the bottom of a list for the 2001 MRO 125 Championship in tenth place you will find one Casey Stoner. It is well worth a visit to the profile of someone, who for me, was one of the UK's finest riders.

But I used to read the magazines avidly, and he just used to come across as somewhat of a complainer!
I will say that he once did a brillaint article in RPM covering how much it cost him to go GP racing, was fascinating.
And being an ex GP rider he also had loads of decent kit on his bike for years when he came back to the UK, and was very quick, until the Flying Flea came along and made everyone look a bit slow eh!
