Indeed. I always thought of the Lancia as the Bulletin Board's mascot. It will not be the same without her.Originally posted by Andy
Don't know how it happened but I became emotionally attached to that car over the past 6 years...I guess I'm happy for you that you sold it finally but I will miss her, she's been parked here at Atlas for so long...

As others have pointed out, that car is part of here. You can't sell an Atlas F1 BB member FFS!
You void the sale right now or I'm never reading this thread again.

I haven't seen anything like it, he deserves a quote on FARK.com. :-) But I won't ,Pascal is a good mate and the Lancia was part of the guy. I remember being in the passenger seat while he drove this car and it was fun.
Some bar/resto owners in Monaco were naive enough to think it was this expensive car from some Ferrari like factory from afar and gave him the best parking space, in front of their resto... Only to realize a few seconds later that it was just a Lancia, but it was too late. Hehehe vanity :-)

I think they were actually built by PininFarina. They only get the badge if they are. Earlier Lancia coupes were built there, and some even had the same instruments as Ferrari on the dash. Fiats X/19 was built in Bertone's factory, and it wore the Bertone badge. It had several items shared with the 2+2 Bertone Ferrari that I think was the only Bertone styled Ferrari car that was mass manufactured (maybe it was called a Dino, the early V8 one), such as the door handles on the inside, the air vents, the boot lid locking levers on the sills.

People don't like them, but I have driven one, and they feel exactly the same as an X1/9 at slow/medium speeds, but heavier and with a lot more torque. And they brake a lot better in the wet than an X1/9, and at speed they are far superior (the X1/9 is fine except in the wind at 160 kmh it could be blown around the road).
Clarkson and friends on Top Gear did a cheap super car comparison, and they said don't buy one. But the 308GT4 won that thing easily, and it was a good car. But they didn't want to say that it was worth risking. The other two cars - a Maserati Merak and a Lambo, were terrible cars.

Well the issue was with the name rather than with any particlar model...
The Lancia Montecarlo was indeed a Pininfarina effort; the build quality was atrocious and the brakes a joke.
However, Lancia made everything right with the superb 037 rally car, a radical development of the Montecarlo, I would love one.

But they said the Ferrari was no good, but actually it was a good car ... and it even has two tiny spots behind the driver.
Ah well ... I had looked at Dino years ago, 'cause I loved the shape, and they were so cheap, and people said they were crap, and I didn't buy one ... I still regret that, and mostly for the car itself, but the return on them has been fantastic.

a car is worth either what someone will pay or what the owner will take (basically either/or - both). NEVER tell someone that something is TOO expensive. just move on.
i've been a collector for 30 plus yrs. do you know how many times i've heard people scoff at something as being too $. only to have them fall on their face in disbelief years later.
a for instance. circa 1997 , in an informal talk with a collector aquantance about a collector boat he had sold. he mentioned he was selling his vintage ferrari. i asked what it was and a description. he told me a 1963 250 lusso. he wanted $100k U.S. . at the time nice restored examples where bringing about 150-175k
he told me it was a decent example with older paint. the next comment was " it's kind of neat though in that it used to be owned by Steve Mcqueen!
Well, i imediately saw the value - but did not have the $. i had MANY years prior mostly given up turning rare cars as for the most part - people are thieves and dishonest. and if you in general turn someone on to a great deal that you know where it is and they don't . and you will show them for a fee. usually they are going to lie (tell you they'll pay your fee , get you to turn them on to the deal, and burn you for your fee).
and in general, the richer the people are the MORE untrustworthy they are in this respect!
so i only knew a couple people that i would even bother trying to tell. well i did, and no one saw the value and stepped up.
as stated that was 1997
today is aug. 21, 2007.
on aug 16, 2007 the same car sold at Christies Auction in Monterey , Ca. for
$ 2,310,000 U.S. with the buyers commision
i could show most people (even collectors ) a great deal collector car value car for the future right now, and 99.9 % of people would not see the future value.
that is the way of really rare collectors items and antiques, Most do not have a clue.
and people with small balls will never have anything great.
future home runs are made by not stealing something at a cheap for today (or even low) price. but usually by paying the fair price for the unpolished gem that not many see the shine in.
$ 2,310,000

8 years this has been going on

I find the exchange rate quite historical - what was it that you said in your first post 9900 euros about $10500
Not any more :

I hope you got full price. In this country (US) the Monte Carlo would be a cool car to own, something no one else has.
I once took four years to sell an excellent 300SEL 6.3. The technique that eventually worked was not dropping the price but raising it. Meanwhile I got to enjoy driving it (and hate paying to maintain it).
There's an old saying about paying a lot for a car: "You don't pay too much, you just buy it too soon." With that in mind, here's my list of lost cars, prices, and dates I turned them down:
Mercedes-Benz 300SL: $7,000, 1966
Porsche Speedster: $1,200, 1967
Porsche RS60 (ex-Ritchie Ginther, fresh engine, and trailer): $3,500, 1972
Porsche 904 (concours cond.

Cars to buy now (in excellent condition):
Mercedes-Benz 190E2.3 (and 2.5)-16
Porsche Turbo
Mercedes-Benz 500E
Porsche 914 and 912 (please don't laugh)
Porsche 928
Alfa Giulia Spider (maybe already be too late)
