My question is :

Was there a overall classification (official) or there were 2 separate classifications (group 1/2 and group 3)?

Thanks in advance
Best regards
Jorge

The report in Autosport lists the overall winner (Roger Clark) and then two separate listings for Group 3 and Groups 1/2. There's no explanation in the text as to why the results were listed in this way. Let me know if you would like a scan of this report, Jorge.

Mr. Galpin ! Some corrections to your archives, if I may !

The R.A.C.E. rally in Spain has been one of the rounds of the Constructors championship !
The 3 Cities didn't made part of both championships.
Rallye Genève has not been cancelled. It took place between 17-20 October and has been won by Pauli Toivonen-Urpo Vihervaara in a Porsche 911 T

Hope it helps
Best regards
Jorge

Thanks. The dates and rounds would have come from a source at the beginning of the year, so it could well have changed later. I'm guessing that with the Geneva rally as I had on the page it was postponed, perhaps then cancelled and later reinstated? Can anyone confirm either way?

I can also probably clarify some of the 68 RAC data - it's complicated because there was at least one transfer from the Gp5/6 event to the RAC "proper" (for Gp1-4) that isn't reflected in the class shown. I think probably the official results are wrong in that respect too!

As for the Tulip, the results show the two works Escorts in Gp2. The Escort TC was initially homologated in Gp3 (and did San Remo as Gp3) but was then very quickly transferred to Gp2. AAGR, in his book "Boreham", has them as still Gp3 for the Tulip. The FIA list of homologations is no help because the actual transfer date from Gp3 to Gp2 has dropped off in adding their note that the model was transferred under another homologation number. I expect the comfirmation is there somewhere but sometimes you run out of energy searching...
As AAGR also highlights, none of the numbers had been reached for either of course, the situation then normal for most cars.
(I'm still looking for those 5000 Gp1 Lotus Cortinas...)

The Autosport report on the Tulip (which I have just this second finished scanning for Jorge) has the Escorts in Group 3.

Yes, it's generally accepted that the Austrian Alpine was the first appearance in Gp2. Perhaps Darren can recall the source for the Tulip results on his site.

Certainly the Autosport report on the Austrian Alpine describes it as 'giving the Group 2 Escort TC its first international win'.

I think, having now checked the results on Darren's site, that the headings are wrong. The results given for Groups 1/2 are really those for Group 3, and vice versa.

Nice to have a reference to my researches where 'RS2000', or his alter ego on another Forum doesn't falsely accuse me of getting it wrong. I can re-confirm that the Escort Twin-Cam's move up to Group 2 homologation came after the Tulip rally of 1968 was run off - the Homologation form making it clear that this applied from 1 May 1968.

By pure fluke I am just going through Motoring News from 1967 and 1968 and the rally report features in 2nd May 1968 copy.
If you want me to look out any of the details or to scan the article then let me know - It has general classification (all) and then class winners.

Good morning !

In the 'Autosport' report say that Jean Claude Andruet has as co-driver Jean Escudié but most of others reports say he was with Jean Todt ! My question : is Jean Escudié, Jean Todt ?
