Another pointless off-season thread! Hooray! :stoned:

Simple as this--if you like music, think of a few songs which you think fit your favourite drivers and explain why. Maybe more of a game than a thread, but hey, I'm bored. My selections:

Michael Schumacher - Shine on, You Crazy Diamond (Pink Floyd): The lyrics really work, in my opinion. ("Remember when you were young/You shone like the sun?" "We'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, and sail on the steel breeze.") Also, the song is about as long as his career, so that's a plus. :p

Sebastian Vettel - Pinball Wizard (The Who): The lyrics, again--and pinball is the sort of thing that seems to fit Vettel's character, haha. Just seems to embody the whole "young kid who came and destroyed everyone" image he carried with him last year, lol.

Kimi Raikkonen - Life's Been Good (Joe Walsh): The whole song fits his lifestyle, in my opinion.

Couldn't think of a song for JB off the top of my head. Got any ideas you'd like to share?

Rubens Barrichello, The Great Pretender...

Oh yes I'm the great pretender (ooh ooh ooh)
Pretending I'm doing well (ooh ooh ooh)
My need is such
I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no-one can tell

Oh yes I'm the great pretender (ooh ooh ooh)
Adrift in a world of my own (ooh ooh ooh)
I play the game
But to my real shame
You've left me to dream all alone

Lewis Hamilton

Pet Shop Boys - It's a Sin.

I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin

At school they taught me how to be
So pure in thought and word and deed
They didn't quite succeed
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin
Everything I've ever done
Everything I ever do
Every place I've ever been
Everywhere I'm going to
It's a sin

Father, forgive me, I tried not to do it
Turned over a new leaf, then tore right through it
Whatever you taught me, I didn't believe it
Father, you fought me, 'cause I didn't care
And I still don't understand

So I look back upon my life
Forever with a sense of shame
I've always been the one to blame
For everything I long to do
No matter when or where or who
Has one thing in common, too

It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a sin
It's a sin

I have a bunch of them, most of them kind of oblique and all of them pretty tongue in cheek. Standard disclaimer: No Nicoles, Jennys, Raquels (nor any other non-racing personnel) were harmed or even considered in the selection of these songs.

Kimi Raikkonen leaves Ferrari, enters unsatisfactory negotiations with many teams, then removes himself (for the time being) from Formula 1.

The Dastardly Betrayal of Mark Webber by the Faithless Red Bull and her Paramour Sebastian Vettel.

Fernando Alonso drinks the blood of good Christian children.

Fernando Alonso at the Conclusion of a Mutually Dissatisfying Liason with McLaren.

Lewis Hamilton and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year.

More if I think of them

edit: This song always made me think of Alguersuari, though I can't say exactly why.

not for a driver, but recently "Weapon of Choice" by Fat Boy Slim (that vid with Christopher Walken) seemed rather apt for a promo of the Monaco GP...

What the hell was that. Three premature boys under chloroform?

The FOM boys followed it to the letter and installed that fail under the gala clip of 2004. Weird!

Hehe this is a good thread!
We all know Thom Yorke is a closet F1 nut and he wrote the seminal OK Computer in dedication to the the driver line-up. Here's who I think his songs are about:

01. Airbag - Robert Kubica (For being the F1 driver being involved in the most horrific shunts, yet modern medicine & car design has not just kept him not just alive but more determined than ever!)
02. Paranoid Android - Felipe Massa (Because it's always somebody else's fault)
03. Subterranean Homesick Alien - Nico Rosberg (This song is about being tired of the same old environment and waiting for something exciting to happen... but it never does)
04. Exit Music [For A Film] - Narain Karthikeyan (He's like a cold sore, he just never goes away)
05. Let Down - Mark Webber (Came so close to being champion, he just isn't fast enough anymore to have another shot at the WDC)
06. Karma Police - Lewis Hamilton (If I take Massa out, maybe Massa will take me out!)
07. Fitter Happier - Kimi Raikonnen (This must be his favourite song?)
08. Electioneering - Pastor Maldonado (Makes promises he can't keep in order to get a seat)
09. Climbing Up The Walls - Timo Glock (This song is about feeling trapped and continuously hoping for a way out...)
10. No Surprises - Rubens Barrichello
11. Lucky - Sebastien Vettel (He's lucky that Adrian Newey isn't making boats!)
12. The Tourist(s) - Daniel Ricciardo & Jules Eric Vergne. (Lads, hope you booked return tickets to Toro Roso!)

Move bee, get out the way
Get out the way bee, get out the way
Move bee, get out the way
Get out the way bee, get out the way

OH NO! The fight's out
I'ma 'bout to punch yo...lights out

I'm doin' a hundred on the highway
So if you do the speed limit, get the puck outta my way [yes you Felipe]

Here I come, here I go
UH OH! Don't jump bee, move
You see them headlights? You hear that puckin' crowd?
Start that goddamn show, I'm comin' through
Hit the stage and knock the curtains down
I puck the crowd up - that's what I do
Young and successful - a sex symbol

Too bad I'm on the right track [Massa's fault]
Beef, got the right mack
Hit the trunk, grab the pump pump, I'll be right back
We buyin' bars out, showin' scars out
We heard there's honeys out, so we brought the cars out
