Is NASCAR like mid 90s FIA were if you appeal and lose you also sacrifice a limb?

I guess JPM is ok then.Kinda like Mikey's situation in 07 when they found jet fuel under the hood
He had his jet fuel on the hood...

If this is accurate they're unlikely to get any further penalties

That is a huge amount of points in this scoring system.Buh Bye Chad

NASCAR is sitting him out for 6 races...
...and 25 points

Jimmie himself doesn't get penalised.

Yes he did. That was kind of unexpected. But team points right? So he's not locked in the Top 35 for qualifying, but he has a past champ's provisional.
Jimmie himself doesn't get penalised.
edit : Also the top 35 is locked in for the first 5 races before it resets.

The drivers usually get penalised as well don't they? The MWR/JTG guys lost drivers points last year when year when they had their windshields confiscated at Dega. Plus Bowyer's deduction during the chase in 2010 pretty much knocked him out of contention.

It depends, NASCAR can be creative with the penalties. This issue was caught in inspection before the car ever got on track. Often when that happens they only ding the Owner and CC. When they find it after Qualifying or the Race the Driver usually gets penalized as well to penalize the driver for the advantage he received. The drivers usually get penalised as well don't they? Remember Michael is the Owner of MWR as well as the driver at the time so he basically had double jeopardy.
Like I said though, NASCAR does what it wants and the #48 has a rap sheet already.

Is that because Knaus has priors and they want Hendrick's attention? Jimmie didn't even run the equipment. Post-race tech infraction sure. But before?

Jimmy gets docked 25 points and the car owner, in this case, Jeff Gordon gets dinged 25 owner points. It depends, NASCAR can be creative with the penalties. Chad and the car chief both get sat down for 6 weeks, and Chad also got dinged 100k dollars.
And yes, all penalties that NASCAR hands out are solely their decision, and there is no set precedent.
They do whatever the F=== they want do.
I believe this a big penalty handed out, and for two reasons:
1) You don't jack with the aero, ever.
2) It's Chad Knaus and this is like the 5th or 6th time in his career that he has tried to get one over on NASCAR.

He can still easily make it to the chase without those 25 points, but it does seem harsh.
No doubt he can make it. Hell, under the current system, he could miss an entire race and still make it (which is one reason I hate the system). All he has to do is be in the Top 20 with a couple of wins to secure a wild card. That's not as hard as it should be considering how good the 48 team is

Penalty was about what I expected though I was off on the suspension. I figured he'd get 2 or 3 races. My guess is they went with 6 because Knaus has a history of playing in the gray area. They've probably caught him doing something similar before and didn't penalize him but just told him not to do it again. Then he does it again so they bring the hammer down.

Just suppose at the 6th race and Jimmy's still out of the top 35 ,and has a slower qualifying speed behind enough of the other go fast or go home cars ,that tony decides to sandbag a lap so slow the 48 doesnt get to start?think nascar will revoke the locked in idea within seconds?

Yep...Wasn't Chad caught on the in car camera last year telling Jimmie to damage the rear bodywork after the race?
And for about the next ten races, he felt the heat every time the 48 went to the tech shed.
I think Chad gets his rocks off on f***ing with the rulebook. For NASCAR being a bunch of alleged hillbillys he sure doesn't get over on them too easily.
One of these days he's gonna go too far, and those good ol' boys are going to give him a six month sabbatical, without pay.

That will never happen on purpose because T-Stew gets Hendrick support.Just suppose at the 6th race and Jimmy's still out of the top 35 ,and has a slower qualifying speed behind enough of the other go fast or go home cars ,that tony decides to sandbag a lap so slow the 48 doesnt get to start?think nascar will revoke the locked in idea within seconds?
But Tony could crash or just have a bad qualifying day.....

Just remember you weren't alone--the red flag scored a 7.3 rating. Then again I watched a two hour red flag for an aviation fuel fire...

On a slow Monday night, we'll take our spectacle wherever we can.

I wouldn't be surprised down the road if it turns out they had something to max out the rulebook during that 5 year run.
In all, good to see NASCAR getting back to the good old days with the new car and the cheating intrigue.....
