Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to gain some assistance from TNFs .

I am looking to find a racer named Daryl Pearsall I believe originally from the Albury area , Daryl purchased a Cheetah MK4E Formula 2 approx late 74 from Bill & Greame Crawford who had taken delivery of the car from Brian Shead in Feb of 74. Daryl Pearsall ran the car at only a few race meetings in 75 and 76 3 of which I have been able to find write ups on from Racing car news being Hume Weir & Winton.

Also seeking to find out any information that maybe helpful, including if anyone knows where I could contact Greame or Bill Crawford or Daryl Pearsall, I have been in contact with Brian Shead from Cheetah racing cars and he has been very helpful. my search for history though has come to halt without original photos or more first hand information.

Thank you

Now, would that be Albury, Herts; Albury, Oxon; Albury, Surrey; Albury, New Zealand; or perhaps Albury, New South Wales?

Hi D-Type,

I believe it was New South Wales , as the car was raced more at Hume Weir which was not far from Albury, New South Wales

Have you had a look at www.oldracingcars.com, the Cheetah section, although there isn't much on the Mk4B there is a lot of history on other Cheetah
( Australia ) racing cars.

Albury NSW. Daryl Pearsall also owned the ex Geoghan Lotus 59 at one time. The Crawford Brothers owned an earhmoving business in Vic. I believe they occasionally attend VHRR Sandown & Phillip Island so they may still reside in Vic.

Regards Shane

He had the ex Geoghegan Lotus 39 actually Shane - we have a pit shot on the oldracephotos website (no 5116) at Winton in 1973. Not with the 2.5 Repco though - F2 specs. I can't 100% confirm that he didn't own the 59 as well at some point ........ don't think so though.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the replys

I have been on Oldracingcars.com The Mk4E is mentioned as chassis 42-1 (Built for AF2) First owner Greame Crawford unknown after that , I found out from Brian Shead that Daryl Pearsall had purchased the car sometime late 74 from the Crawfords to replace the Lotus 39 maybe ?

I also found an article confirming this in Motor Racing News of the era with a note saying "Daryl Pearsall is having a Paul England Twin Cam built for his Cheetah MK4E purchased from Graeme Crawford"

Thanks again

That old 39 looked such a poor relation with a Twin Cam in it!

I remember Graeme Crawford having a Birrana, that must have come after the Cheetah?

Have you spoken to the Albury (New South Wales) people, Brad Jones and his crew? Old ADCC members? Terry Cornelius? Or maybe Paul Gibson at Winton?

Yes I now have info that Graeme never raced the Cheetah as it had taken to long to complete he went and purchased a Birrana and then onsold the MK4e to Daryl soon after taking delivery.

I haven't spoken those people below , but good information for me to look at Thank you. I understand from another message I have been sent that Daryl Pearsall left Albury in unusual and sudden circumstances sometime in the mid - late seventies and the car disappeared.
