I wonder where my bet would be. Can't wait for the season to begin, this forum looks ready to explode after the calm :D

Maybe Hamilton, a few notes on Webber & Raikkonen. Good odds.

You are right. Didn't notice the number "2" in the odds at first. Will edit it.

Only a complete fanboy would put money on Alonso at those odds. He's certainly not a better chance than Webber, given the machinery.

I myself didn't know to laugh or cry when I saw the Odds putting Romain over Massa.

I put in a " " to come across more sympathetic

Really funny to see Massa getting no love from anyone, except, Ferrari/Luca of course. He is still in a red car... vying for a WCC for them! Best of luck to Ferrari for either being very brave or really really stupid.

So seems like putting money on either mclaren drivers seems like the most sane way to actually make some money, if someone is into this.

Popular drivers (ie ones people will put money on) will always have shorter odds. It's not just about how likely they think each is to win.
The bottom line is...whoever wins the bookies want to make money.

I've placed a minor wager on Räikkönen with odds at 28/1, I think it's worth the risk ;)

I put money on Hamilton when he was 7/1 and Button when he was 12/1, the odds have almost halved since the start of pre-season testing!

I am staggered anyone is putting money on him, the team is just not ready to win a CC, i'd bet billions against it.

I'm sure his 2008 helmet is reduced to clear by now.

Vettel - £3000 to win
Hammy - £1000 to win
Jenson - £1000 to win

total stake: £5000

If Vettel wins - £700 won
If Hammy wins £2000 won
If Jenson wins £3000 won

no loss... unless Webber/Alonso/Massa/Riakonnen wins... which I doubt...

:)

Anyone got £5000?

Anyway ive placed an undisclosed stake on Hamilton to win ;)

It's not sad, it's perfectly reasonable to me.
Just imagine both Lotus and Ferrrai find last minute silverbullets to push them into dominance, would you rather believe Massa will be able to beat Alonso or GrowJohn to get the jump over a still finding his feet Kimi?

They could put Massa at 1000/1 to the title and I still woulnd't put a dollar on him. OTOH, what are the odds for him to win a race? That would definitely deserve some bucks.

Betting at any WDC seems ridiculous right now.
I'd like to see odds for race wins.

Does anyone have them?

Given the machinery?

Well, as Webber will be getting the same machinery as Vettel then there's no chance of him winning the title. 16-1 may take into consideration the small chance of Vettel being out injured/ill for a significant period.

Ferrari may still be able to resolve their issues. Alonso odds seem fine, given his machinery, and occasionally Massa's machinery and occasionally Massa's points.

Bookies are clever sods but at the end of the day they just cover the bets and make their percentage.

The earler post splitting the stake/ratio between Vettel/Hamilton/Button seems the a good bet to me.

Not like he wasn't ahead just 1.5 years ago.

Pre Australia update:

In qualifying is still some hope for the Alonso fans. They see their man in P4.

Posted Image

In the race Alonso is set for P5. So the start of the season looks very bad for Ferrari with very little improvements only coming over the course of the season.

Posted Image

I have decided to prepare odds and Championship table analysis this year. Here is the first installment:

Posted Image

This is the data table showing three WDC and two WCC entries with the pie charts of the latest WDC and WCC situation and the intra team match odds.

Posted Image

This is the history chart of the WDC odds. Everything is pretty normal, except for Alonso falling back to P4 with the rumors of a weak Ferrari car and Räikkönnen suddenly coming from nowhere passing both Mercedes drivers for P6

Posted Image

And this is the history chart of the WCC odds. We only have half way data from testing and pre Australia. Biggest relative movement is Ferrari .

Maybe Hamilton, a few notes on Webber & Raikkonen. Good odds.

many years ago I was involved in the development of the first ever computerisator and worked with the mathematichans who established the processes for settin the odds. It taught me two things
a) The bookie will ALWAYS win
b) Booking is previewing the future and none of us are good at that
So lets see in Brazil how the odds pan out

Massa's odds have nothing to do with his ability and everything to do with team orders - If Alonso breaks his leg on Friday, watch them drop...

5- Mark Webber- Title odds: 16/1

Wow.. good odds on him.. after all, he gets the best car (probably) and he wasn't much behind VET in 2 out of their 3 seasons..

Might be worth betting a few quids on him..
