Evening all,

Thought you all might like to hear this.

I am a member at PureTechRacing which is basically 8 f1/f3 sims in a room all on hydraulic rams to represent g etc.

Well I turned up tonight and was thrown into a race with....

Luciano Bacheta
Nic Hamilton
Joleyn Palmer and his brother

Absolutely bizarre but incredible at the same time rubbing wheels with the guy that just won the monaco gp2 race!

So is Joleyn Palmer Jolyon Palmer's brother?

They were in this order:

Luciano (he was insanely fast)
Jolyon
Nic
Will Palmer

Race 1 was in the F1s at Spa ( i wasnt against them in this race). Luciano won, then Jolyon then Will and then Nic.

I raced them in formula 3's at Catalunya which are much much harder to drive and you really have to tip toe the front end or the rear just breaks away. They are much more fun to drive than the TC equipped 2008 type f1's.

At Catalunya I came 4th behind Luciano, Jolyon and Will. Ha a great tussle with Nic and went round the outside of him at turn 4.

Lap time wise Luciano did a 1:41.4 which was the quickest by a fair bit. I was in the mid 1:42's and Jolyon was in the low 1:42's. I actually beat his brother in terms of lap times but had a tank slapper in which he got past me.

Absolutely epic fun chatting with them afterwards about the race- they live it and love it.

Erm... yes

I will just add that it was my first time in the F3 car around Catalunya so I was ecstatic with my time.

Apparently Max Chilton came down and got beaten by one of the members so decided to ram him and then got out of his car mid race and stormed off!

Nic even tweeted about it:

"Not going back to @LetsRace1 in a hurry! @LucianoBacheta @danrozwadowski @jolyonpalmer"

"At least I was quick :)"

How much is it to race at LetsRace?

There used to be a place like this in Holland I read about in AutoSimSport. This LetsRace place sounds like it is more expensive, like they are aiming for the corporate market rather than regular punters.

Not true actually it is very individual based and everyone there is obsessed with racing. They have lots of old f1 and f3 cars in the reception room etc.

If you are a member it is £7.50 for a 15 minute session.

Can you walk in and race? Or at least reserve a session online?

Do you know what simulator software they use? rFactor perhaps?

NetKar.

I had three laps in it back in 2009 when it was first being built. It's very cool and I think the motion is the best of any of them, because the movement is side to side like a real race car would be rather than tilting. So you get an actual g-force, even though it's very very low.

My problem was I was literally walking by, saw it, asked some questions, and they said I could have a go(this was at another company). I thought it'd be an F1 track but it was just a generic one. I think Aviano GP based on research afterwards.

So I did my three laps having no idea where I was going and without the seatbelts done up because I figured it was a game how much could it really move  I was a little sore in the joints afterwards from the sloshing around but the feeling was really good. Both in the movement and Netkar.

It's not Rfactor but I can't remember the name. You need to call and book.

Those thinking its not that much G... it can represent 2G but they need to turn the forces up for that and that is only given to members. We had it turned up to the max the other day and it is relatively violent but not really an issue if your young and fit. Gives you a decent idea about how violent 5g  must be though.

Forgot to add that they have added F1 tracks now. I did Spa, Catalunya. We also did Macau which has to be the hardest track Ive driven on in any game.

I'm doing some karting in the UK this september so I made a booking with "Lets Race" on the way from the airport. Looking forward to it.

There is another simulator center near the Bedford Autodrome that uses iRacing, so I'll try that as well.

Where is the sim near Bedford Autodrome? Working across the road (or runway to be more specific) from there at the moment, could hear the cars screeching/roaring around the circuit today, would be tempting to pop in one day.
