Dear all.
An old friend of mine wants to take his wife for an extra- special occasion to the 2013 Monaco GP. They are both F1 fans, although his wife hasn't been to a race for many years because of mobility problems. She's recently had some orthopaedic surgery which has improved her abilities to get around, but she can only walk a maximum of 150-200 yards, and really is better in a wheelchair.

Their ideal would be to watch from one of the trackside hotels - they do know the likely serious costs involved! They would probably combine the race with a short holiday elsewhere in the S of France.

I said I'd contact this forum for advice: can can anyone suggest any specialist tour operators with experience of helping guests with this sort of issue? Has anyone done anything smilar at Monaco and can offer advice on where to stay and watch, if it was being done independently?

With many thanks for any thoughts,
Mark

far cheaper and more pleasant I believe would be to use one of the apartments overlooking the start line - most have elevators, are cheaper than hotels and offer acceptable hospitality and good views. That area is also close to the station (500m) and so they can stay in S France and he can wheel her in and out fairly easily. I would suggest they get hold of the tourism people and check who is renting balcony space during race weekend

Great - interesting idea, which I'll pass on.
Many thanks,

The Ermanno Palace Penthouse has an Upper Terrace with seating and a lower Balcony. It has an elevator right to the top.
This Monaco Terrace has been voted the best view of the Monaco Grand Prix by the Automobile Club De Monaco. In this video you can see there is plenty of seating and it is very suitable for anyone with mobility problems. Also, the owner does not sell too many tickets so the place is not jam packed.

Thanks - that looks worth knowing about whether one's mobility-challenged or not.
