Scream in agony... GPL keyboarder pain

I am sorry. I don't have a wheel and pedals, I do not allow myself to buy one until I've graduated from the university, and I'm a lazy ass bum working full time. So it ain't gunna be anytime soon.
Nardaashacka!
So I'm racing with keyboard control. Gas pedal = on/off. Brake pedal = on/off. Steering = perpetual motion, cannot turn and hold the wheel steady through a corner. Result = manic driving, overheating tires, excursion every ten laps. No, make that five.
This is unbearable. Somebody in some other thread a while ago suggested that you can artificially slow down the opposition. Now I cannot find where it was, and I beg for help. It involved altering a value between 0 and 2, where 1 was the default. Or something like that.
For my sanity, I need to make the fast boys slower until I get myself the equipment to push hard with. How do I do it?

Yes, yes... I ought to buy a stick or a wheel.. but I've promised a certain someone that I won't before I've graduated. Just trying to fool her by playing with keyboard.

If you email me your address I`ll send the aitweaks.zip (which contains the revised driver.ini file) and the new gpl_ai.ini file over to you ... irvineslovechild@hotmail.com
The new driver.ini file makes the `quick` AI guys like Clark and Hill etc... more susceptible to changes in your npt_override value.
The new gpl_ai.ini file makes the AI guys slightly more aggressive in defending their line going into a turn, and overtaking slower traffic. This makes the AI a bit more realistic.
I`d advise you to make backup copies of your original driver.ini and gpl_ai.ini files in case you want to go back to your original set up. If all this sounds like gobbledegook have a good read of the thread. If it still sounds like gobbledegook - break open a beer, only 6 days to the Malaysian GP

Cheers ILC

you would probably be a lot faster with a wheel or a joystick, but it will take time to relearn how to drive again... (i switched to a wheel and then back to the joystick i am using now, and neede a few days to get up to speed both times.. )

Answer, 5 hundredths of a second

Still on 1:06.93 in the Lotus AlesiGOD. I`ve seen one of your Glen replays and can`t imagine driving as fast as that on a keyboard

If you want to feel like your handling the car, I`d definitely suggest you get a wheel. It just feels more natural. OK they can be expensive but they`ll last you for years.

Thanks, I've sent you an e-mail. I can't believe I couldn't find the original thread where you posted this information. I feel idiotic about that, yet happy that I have a shout at the game soon enough.
I think I've done a 1.08.08 at the Glen, but I haven't really raced there for a while. Mosport is where I do most of my races, I've snatched a very low 1.25 there a couple of times.

Cheesy quote found on office desk rolodex ... " If you have knowledge let others light their candles by it ! "
I`ll send the files over after I get back from work. It`s good to know that some Finns are mere mortals when it comes to driving, like the rest of us

Later, Eddie jnr
