U.S. Playstation magazine gave Colin McRae 2.0 2000 Best Racing Game Award beating Midnight Club, Moto GP, Moto Racer World Tour and Ridge Racer 5. Here what it saids:
"Best Racing Game is usually such a tough category for us to look at, but without a Gran Turismo, this year was pretty easy. We considered Ridge Racer 5 for a while, as well as Moto GP, Midnight Club and Moto Racer, but ultimately there was a clear winner. Although rallying isn't exactly a big sport in the U.S., Codemaster's Herculean efforts in piercing togethr Colin McRae Rally 2.0 are more than worthy of merit. This is truly awesome racing game that any car loon should really seek out. Like many true "greats," there's a chance that CMR2.0 won't exactly light up the charts, and subsequently won't be enjoyed by as many people as it deserves. But if you love racing games, don't miss it. The presentation is wonderful, the sound spectacular, the depth astounding...but most significantly, the controls are some of the best we've ever encountered. If you love cars, buy this game."
Award accepted by producer, Guy Wilday and his comments"
"On behalf of my talented team at Codemasters, I would like to thanks OPM for recognizing Colin McRae 2.0 as the Best Racing Game of the Year. There was a tremendous amount of effort that went into making this a sequel a success and we are absolutely thrilled with the response we've received so far. We are especially thrilled to receive this award because rallying isn't as popular in the U.S. as it is in Europe. Cheers!
I got to go pick this game up someday.

Colin McRae 2.0 is indeed a great game for a console game. The damage model is pretty good for PSX and you have a pretty nice selection of tracks and cars. You also have the ability to tweak around with car settings. It is a blast, definitely pick it up.
Of course there will soon be a WRC game for PS2 that looks really sweet with reportedly a full world championship calender, 3...2...1...GO!

cmr2 is a ball tearer...thats all i have to say
whats your setups fellas? any faves?
basically i start off with the standard/middle setup and loosen the thing up a little (one or two clicks) with the power ratio setting (loose the surface looser the setting [except for sweden personally ive found i go faster with a slight push]).
like to put a tiny bit of push in it off the brake bias (one click) for all rallys, even if ive loosened it with the PR(just a personal thing there)...
brake power..more grip more power...put it all the way up for ashpalt, almost all the way down for gravel etc (again except sweden, just 1 click down there).
drop the ride height right down on tarmac and leave it in the middle for most of the rest (except for stages like the ones in finland and aus where theres big big jumps). again sweden is diff. like it down low there too.
ive noticed if you change the gear ratios more than a click or two it throws you out on your pace notes...corner #'s basically being the gear youd use through the corner...not much of a prob once you know the stages, but can be a bit odd when its all new.
only one i cant quite figure out is england..but thats hardly surprising...tarmac (wet and dry) mud and gravel (wet and dry)...so i havent quite nutted it out.
