My dear friend Patrice Vatan has close the site - very sad - Patrice is one of the best French writers!

Stefan DANKE! Very sad--it was a good site, good themes, photos and a look in the French 'scene'..

The URL of the 'old' site (which has been in my Favourites list for years, and used to take me to the site) is:
http://memoiresdesta...hautetfort.com/
Note that they are slightly different. Clicking on the 'old' site URL gets you a '404 Error - URL not found' message. Clicking on the 'new' site URL gives you the single article in English, as noted by Michael.
So my question is: are the 'old' and 'new' sites both run by Patrice Vatan, or is someone else trying to steal Patrice's reputation?

well seen SHERLOCK or WATSON..
The difference is in the 'de' and des' (partitive articles in French)..As the Rindt article in the 'new MdS' is from Ewald...--I think it is a fake-site..

Any idea why Stefan ? I also have had this site bookmarked in my favourites and had hoped that it's unavailability was a short term thing.

The Wayback Machine has some of it, but nothing since last July:I tried to reach Mr. Vatan too, as I got very surprised the site was down. Is any way to recover it or trace the any backup?

He used to post here too (as 33 route d'orleans) but we haven't heard from him for quite a while.
He posted a lot on Facebook about the town of Cosne sur Loire. He wrote on MDS that his actual passion was in the Loire area...

Any news from Patrice Vatan or from anyone who had archived more things from the website?

It isn't the original Blog
True, but it seems to be a worthy successor

I get exactly the same, Michael - having tried a couple of other browsers as well. It may be that the site is down - sometimes you get strange messages like that.

The real "successor" is now online, a blog called "Classic Courses" , also by a former contributor of Mémoire des Stands ( Olivier Rogar ) and is keeping the same spirit, graced by the presence of many former contributors of MdS . And hard feelings, if any, have now quitened down since this new blog has even been "inducted" by Patrice Vatan, who wrote a short note of congratulations in reply to a new outstanding contribution. ( one man writing the story of how he took Olivier Gendebien to visit the Von Trips museum/memorial )
Oh yes, the link :
