In my opinion he had already proved that.
In the eyes of his fans like us he has, but for someone as competitive and self-critical as he is it's something he needs to keep proving to himself and others. Since the gearbox failure in Singapore he's seen Seb running off with what should be his 3rd title in a row and he was just chuffed he'd had a race-long battle with "the supposed best" and won.

Id imagine it was one of the car painters who would have just sprayed the area with the red McLaren paint, considering he used a standard helmet for qualifying it must have been getting changed.
An Arai employee used red tape to cover it, no painting was involved.

Lewis said something on the radio to his engineer about the DRS zone during the race. Anyone know what the exchange was, I didn't quite catch it?
Asked him to stop talking in the DRS zone so he could hear the beep that tells him he can use DRS?

Still in awe by the performance of Hamilton. I have seen 25 years F1 Live, and believe he is the best driver of this generation. It will be sad seeing him losing his prime years with the Brackley squad. It looks like 1 single title could easily become his legacy while Vettel will have collected 6, 7, 8 titles.
Vettel could get quite a few. If he gets number three this weekend, he must also be favourite for number four next year.
Anyway, it was clearly Lewis's own decision to go to Mercedes knowing their level of performance, so it is not exactly bad luck if they do not provide a competitive car.

Lewis Hamilton believes Sunday's victory at the U.S. GP proved he is a top driver
I bet something like this is now constantly playing in his head when he thinks about SV:
Oh, can't stop this train from rolling
Oh, yo, you can't take it down
No, never stop this locomotion, on and on and on and on
No, you can't bring it down cause I'm
Better than you (Better than you)
Better than you (Better than you)
Oh better than you (Better than you)
Better than you (Better than you)
Much Better than you

Last Hamilton race on Mclaren, mixed emotions coming.
Love,Hate...so many emotions since 2007.
He's never won in Brazil. My dream scenario is Hamilton and Vettel duking it out for the lead for 70 laps in torrential conditions, with Alonso in a lonely, tense 3rd, then Vettel coming a cropper trying to lap Karthykeyan and spinning off track into retirement. Hamilton, Alonso and Kimi making a happy trio on the podium, witnessing Fred's 3rd world title.
In reality I know it's more likely that Vettel will stick it on pole and drive off to an easy victory, but we can dream

I believe this is what he had stuck in his head at Monaco 2011:

I would totally love it if that scenario were to become reality! Whatever happens this Sunday, I think it will be dramatic. I can see another 2008-like situation. I don't really know why, but I have a feeling that Alonso is going to do it.
Bring it on!

You need to remember that they have given up on this years car long ago, ever since signing Lewis or earlier. They are working non-stop on new one. You can't look at their current form to get an accurate picture I think.Going to be painful seeing Hamilton in the hell hole that is mercedes... What a waste, dear god.

I am not so quick to right off mercedes next season...clearly they stopped developing the w03 a while ago...maybe they have something special in the pipeline and that's what they enticed Lewis with...

Hope he gets to fight for the WDC @ Merc next year, but I have no faith in the Merc team.
