Cmon guys, watch again. Scott Sharp's car had a wheel clipped off even before it went airborne. it wasn't just touching, it was a hard crash mid track. The DW just flips from being touched, and there is no wheen interlocking if both cars have faired wheels.

I think the Porsche driver was on the LH kerbing and overdid his attempt to get off it.

It probably is more prone to flip than a 4 wheel rectangular platform, but in the circumstances, already losing 1/2 g over hump a std car would have taken off...saudoso-..and there is no wheen interlocking if both cars have faired wheels.
Anyway, sweet race, despite having started from back of grid due to unclassed tech demonstrator, waiting first lap GT fracas to be sorted out, then climbing through field to 3rd overall, only losing places on the wave-throughs the championship cars got, we lost 2 laps certainly, maybe 3...not a bad showing, specially as Atlanta is a real track...so not just a straight line special. Unfinished business concluded, 5th in an ALMS field, lap times correct, even if car in substantially Le Mans config, let's see what the future brings.

It's worth pointing out how crazy T12 at Atlanta is, I've been through it slowly once in a racecar (Ford GT - thanks Robertson Racing :-) ) and you really can't see anything so you have to commit early. A GT car that's loose and taking a lot of exit kerb out of the chicane needs to settle itself before commiting to Turn 12 and I think this contributed to the incident.
Lets be clear, that corner is easy flat in a P2 car, generally flat in a GTE car, but not always. I would imagine it's not easy flat by any means in a Porsche cup car on hard single-brand spec tyres.
Racing incident for me.

On a track as fast as Le Mans, pure power is probably much more relevant than power/weight.
I think Deltawing would fare quite well on that kind of graph.

Anyway, my point was that on power alone vs laptime the Deltawing would fare better. And that's because it has a very low drag.
It all depends on how these graphs are constructed; if for example we measured (power^(1/3)/(Cd*area)) vs laptime we would essentially be measuring, more than the performance of single vehicles, the impact of top speed on lap time at le Mans...

So it's 1/2 the power, 1/2 the weight, 1/3 the drag and and 1/2 the downforce.
1/2 the cost, 1/2 the fuel and 1/2 rectangle.

The video includes a brilliant chat from Deltawing designer Ben Bowlby. It's the most interesting car-based interview I've heard all year, and it makes me feel even more strongly that this car deserves to race again.
