McLaren would never allow anything resembling the slapdash, multi-colored Sauber livery on one their cars...

for christ sake, get rid of that horrible chrome.
Chrome is absolutely horrible. The grey of old was so much nicer.

On the other hand, there were reports earlier this year that they reviewed their sponsorship and wanted to back out of the deal, Coca Cola was mentioned as a possible replacement. Now that they need a second driver, Telmex could well take Vodafone's place to bring in their driver.
Edit: Sergio Perez: "I’m thrilled and delighted to have become a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver".

I think the Red will remain regardless, it is McLaren red and not Vodafone red after all.

Confession: As a child I've always supported teams purely by the color of their cars, and since red is my favorite color....
Coca Cola owns Monster which sponsors Mercedes AMG, so I don't think they're an option.

Strange thing is: Vodafone has a sponsorship deal with McLaren til the end of 2013, I can't imagine they'll get out of the contract one year early.
Contracts in F1 are written to be broken and can also be bought out.

#F1 Vodafone and Telmex are partners so presumably it fits even if the former is scaling back, as is rumoured

Vodafone continues, they confirmed it with message that thy will look forward to enjoying success with Sergio and McLaren
Vodafone can still continue with the additional backing of Telmex if they are partners.

Dario's CART ten years ago used the blue and silver look. Even had a McLaren style little red/orange point on the nose.

It's an interesting co-incidence that the chrome-and-Vodafone livery dates from 2007, Hamilton's first season with the F1 team. A symbolic end of an era?

Next season will be a good opportunity for an all-new McLaren livery, preferably by ditching the Mercedes-inspired grey which later morphed into chrome.

Well a very similar livery existed in 2006 without Vodafone logos.
The interesting thing was the fact they had an orange livery after West departed. Maybe we will get an orange livery is there is a Vodafone, Telemex swap. One thing for sure McLaren won't produce an ugly livery.

Would be interesting if it was true.
McLaren started using the chrome and red paint in 2006 with the Fly Emirates and Johnnny Walker sponsorship.

I don't think they'll completely change their brand identity. Depending on how much Telmex will pay, i can imagine them changing their Vodafone red to Telmex blue - which could also fit Lucozade btw - or just going chrome/black with red trim similar to their silver/black liveries, which is probably the most likely option.Next season will be a good opportunity for an all-new McLaren livery, preferably by ditching the Mercedes-inspired grey which later morphed into chrome.

We all hoped for Telmex to have some more impact on Sauber's liveries, but that didn't happen either.
Edit: Oh, i forgot. The Carlos Slim brand with the most exposure on the Sauber does have a red logo, so maybe there'll be even less change:

Vodafone will not leave McLaren:

As much as I like Vodafone being a partner with the team I would prefer to see stonger ties than have been shown recently and less rumour of them leaving not to mention I would prefer Vodafone paid their taxes like everyone else.
