But they all have to go to McLaren's trophy cabinet regardless who wins it by order of the Ron.

Isn't there the 'real' trophy that the winner gets for the year, and then they order a replica that they'll keep forever?
That's how I thought it was done, with the original one updated each year with the winners trophy. Not sure about the constructors.

I believe there's only one version of each trophy. Red Bull Racing keeps the Constructors' trophy at their factory, on display for visitors to see and photograph--don't know what they've done with the Drivers' trophy. So which is it. One trophy that exists and then replicas kept after the year is over ?

I read somewhere that the teams order several replicas, not just one.

Anyone else think these should be handed over as part of the podium ceremony as and when they are won?
The fact they need to engrave the champions name first makes that impossible.

In the last 20 years we have had four races where champion doesn't finish on the podium at the deciding race.
Schumacher 1994
Schumacher 2003
Hamilton 2008
Button 2009

No it doesn't. The Champions League trophy is handed over minutes after the match ends with engraving starting seconds after match end.

Yes but this is the FIA. They take hours to decide on a penalty after the race, how long do you think it takes for them to engrave a trophy?

I don't see a problem with having a separate prize giving ceremony, it's nice to have the various champions receive their trophies all at once. Besides a separate prize giving ceremony would detract from the podium even more than it does now, it's a bit of a shame no one cares about who won the race if it's not the champion.

Yes. Unfortunately the FIA suits need their Christmas night out in Monaco paid for, and a prizegiving gala ignored by everybody is the answer.
