To Ross's point didn't Coca Cola Bottlers (UK) sponsor James Hunt in F3?
Also Gerry Birrell had sponsorship from Coca Cola in Formula 2 around 1982

There's a lovely photo, from Kara Birrell's site, of the family and the 1972 F2 March: photo #6. Also photos #15 & #16.

Only that I am interested in the answer, and have been back to the thread half a dozen times and found one specific response (the first) and a half one (the second)A joke, a laugh, a merry quip. Ho hum. David, does it really matter?
Guess it's time I stopped looking

There should be photos showing the GP winner with "Coca-Cola"-littered walls in the background.
EDIT: Brazilian Grand Prix 1984.

I disagree with the rather downbeat posting earlier in the thread. I think the background info provided by other posters on Coke's previous motorsport involvement gives a useful historical perspective to this latest venture. No threads follow a consistently linear trajectory. Indeed, it's often the off-thread diversions that throw up the most intriguing posts.

...not forgetting the Coca Cola 600, NASCAR's annual attempt at stealing the Indy 500's thunder.
