I don't think Alonso needs to win another title, his near misses in 07, 10 and 12 will be taken into account when we assess him in the future. Hamilton is a few years away from becoming a threat at Mercedes, and Button/Perez isn't going to be competitive enough for titles. Maybe Raikkonen if Lotus can get some decent investment, which it looks to have in Coca Cola, and if they can capitalise on this years momentum. In my view, Vettel is his biggest obstacle in actually winning another title, and it will be one for the ages if he goes toe to toe with him as he has this season.

I posted a similar article in another forum last year an got pretty much shot down.

I can't predict the future, but I think next season will be his.

With Hamilton at Mercedes who are a bit behind there's one competitor gone. I doubt Lotus will keep up with the big guns next season, and unless McLaren build a car round Button and it's really fast, I can't see him challenging.

So that leaves Vettel, will he get four in a row? It's hard to achieve, but Red Bull like McLaren do seem to have a good baseline for next years car.

Alonso's got to win one surely, although I did think this year was his as everything seemed to pan out his way apart from a few minor hiccups here and there.

2014 will mix everything up and Ferrari are not that quick off the ball when it comes to rule changes, and it takes them a bit of time to grasp the rules, so his last season at Ferrari we may see him win one.

But then, who knows, maybe a new threat will come along? After Schumacher left, we thought it would be a battle between Alonso and Raikkonen for a few years, then it changed when Hamilton came in, we thought he would dominate and be up there, then along came Vettel.

Kimi fans should avoid this thread. It's becoming embarrasing.

Why ?

The question is Will Alonso win another title? - Well no one can be sure but why not if he gets a dominant car ?

Realistically though , I see as much a chance of Kimi getting another one as Alonso given how Kimi hauled Lotus of all teams to the front while Alonso couldnt do the same with the mighty Ferrari.

Six seasons completed now without Alonso winning the world championship.

I can't immediately think of another driver who added a title after such a gap, so history is not on his side.

What do you think?

As long as the car is not red, he might have a chance.;)

There is no reason he can't win another if he is given the right equipment.

Agreed. If Ferrari can give him the fastest car, he should have good chance.
