In the last 2 seasons, we've seen 2 remarkable seasons in somewhat different circumstances.
2011 you had Vettel, equipped with the fastest car that suited his style of driving and tears up the pole position record, wins 11 races, 18 podiums from 19 finishes and 391 points. He lead over 700 laps and wrapped up the title in Japan- 4 races from the end. Despite developments from Mclaren, takes poles and wins and even wins at Red Bull's bogey tracks, Spa and Monza
2012 you had Alonso, with a difficult Ferrari, certainly for the first 4 races, by the end of which he was only 10pts off the then leader (Vettel) with an inspired win in Malaysia. Cue developments and he takes 2 more wins and leads by a good margin after even Monza and Singapore, losing the lead with a Red Bull/Vettel resurgance. Finishes 3pts away from a remarkable title and takes 13 podiums, 2 poles and 3 wins in all. 278 pts.
Just keen to see of the 2, what was the better season.
I know some may say Hamilton was also very impressive in 2012 but got screwed by (mostly team) errors.

Diametrically different situations but for me the driver is measured in efficiency, i.e. what percentage of the car did he extract independent of the situation. That's their job.
If they both got 99% efficiency for example then they are similarly good seasons, regardless of any achievements.

Unfortunately, it's just another popularity poll, which you know the outcome of already.
I agree with EvanRainer, in which case the answer is very simple:
Sebastian Vettel was outperformed by his team-mate only once in 2011 (Germany).
Fernando Alonso was (clearly) outperformed by his team-mate three times in 2011 (Korea, Austin, Brazil).

Yep, and driver v driver threads are against the rules for exactly this reason.Unfortunately, it's just another popularity poll, which you know the outcome of already.
Forum and BB rules are linked to in my sig, for reference.
