The reason the current cars are slower than 2004 is mainly BHP. Downforce isn't a million miles away and the slicks help.

The FIA wont allow them to be any faster in a straight line due to safety concerns


Let them get up to 205 mph as quickly as they like, then say they can't go over it. Let them run 2,000 hp and pull 4gs in a straight line, that would be fitting of F1 - and look cool as well.
