Perhaps its balanced in that case. Doesn't gloss over the negatives but points out the many positives. Not every written article has to hate a driver or team nor does it have to be a puff piece.

Sorry, I didn't express myself correctly. Pointing out both negatives and positives is of course balanced and fair. What I meant was, here is an article half of which is full of adoration, while the rest of it is equally indicative of strong dislike. Extreme on both counts. That IMHO is weird in the least.

I would assume the accuser.

From WIkipedia but still...

English defamation law puts the burden of proof on the defendant, rather than the plaintiff, and is considered an impediment to free speech in much of the developed world

That is half the reason that we don't hear all the stuff the journos know I suspect, the other half being to do with, even if true, what is in the publci interest etc or is the individual entitled to privacy.

I think that's fair enough, if you accuse someone of something then they can challenge you to prove it's true. Slander is one of the few offences, another one that I'm aware of being the health and safety at work act, where you are presumed guilty rather than being presumed innocent.

I think you can still state an opinion without it being slanderous as long as you make it clear it is an opinion.

That blog entry has to be one of the most perverted pieces I've ever read. I mean, it's almost impossible to distinguish whether he loves the man or hates him.

That's fitting for a subject like Alonso, though, surely? ;)

I wouldn't have thought it was possible back in 2005, but FA is definitely the most interesting personality F1's had since Senna.
