Considering going to the ROC this weekend in Bangkok - has anyone been to one before? I'm wondering if I can only go for the Saturday (nations cup) would that be worth it? there aren't any appropriate flights for me to get back to Singapore Monday monring for work, so if I go it would only be for the Sat.
Would appreciate any "guidance" as to whether it is worth it.

I have been to the last 2 RoC in Dusseldorf and enjoyed both thoroughly.....
the distance between track and tribunes is relatively close too! very exciting!

I went twice to Wembley. Loved the 1st one. The 2nd wasn't as good for me though, as the 1st year had a lot more action apart from the actual racing, it was freezing, beer costs too much and I hate Wembley. Still worth it if you've never been though.
I went to the second Wembley one as well, and it was bitterly cold. Enjoyed the event, but wouldn't go again as by the end every race seemed pretty much the same.

I still think it's a tempting prospect besides whereelse will you get to see Lorenzo and Vettel race each other?

Not really looking forward to it too much (and the REAL ROC was already contested on the streets of Surfers Paradise some month and half ago) but it is obligatory for December. Hindy back on booth which is a plus, I wonder if Martin Haven is making a comeback. Probably could find that out if I went through his twitter again but the thing is that he posts like 15630 tweets every day...

Always wondered why Kimi doesn't contest here.
Or Fernando for that matter.
I don't think he ever did it.

This is what he does in ROC.
2011, he was in semi final (cup nations) not too bad.

In 2001 he did ;) And won the nations cup together with Jesus Puras and, I think it was Ruben Xaus (I seem to remember being a bit surprised that not Carlos Checa or Alex Criville raced) Back when RoC was at Gran Canaria each year, with three drivers for each nation. One rally, one race and one motorcycle. And on a super-special rally stage with rally cars.

Always wondered why Kimi doesn't contest here.
Just read an interview with Kimi where he was asked regarding this:
(http://www.ts.fi/moo...isan Kanarialle)
and this was the reply roughly translated:
"I just can't be arsed to take part. I've been asked a lot. Back in the Mclaren days I always wanted to take part to the race of champions but I never got the permit.
"If the race was like it used to be in Canary islands where they drove various vehicles on sand and tarmac I would gladly join. But now on stadiums it's such a Mickey Mouse -show it's nothing like it used to be. I've suggested the organizers to change it back to what it was and then I would be interested."

I am missing out to go to Bangkok this time of the year, but we might see there in the future. Or I catch up with you in Singapore.
Concerning the ROC - the best was 1993 - a real classic.

This chicane is a joke. 10 second penalty if you clip it it seems, thought RoC was a bit of let your hair down fun.

Hindy at an all time low and the other guy can't even get the drivers names right.
He still calls Hunter Reay an IRL driver!

+1 Not just that but giving a penalty for touching the wall? *facepalm* Also 10 sec is just too much for a one lap competition. When did they start using that chicane on the bridge? Watching the cars get air was one of the spectacles of the race.
Hope they get rid of the chicane or the penalty rule tomorrow.
