Keeping up with the theme of previous threads, I'd like to branch out a little away from F1. This is the thread for the most impressive winning performances you've seen in any of the F1 feeder series, this being GP2, WSR, F3, F3000, FRenault, whatever.

I can only think of 2 at the moment:

- Lewis Hamilton in the Nurburgring in his GP2 season (2006). He had yet to show his potential at that point early in the season, but that day he absolutely annihilated the field. Details are fuzzy so I can't recall if I'm thinking of the main race or the reverse-grid race, but I have a feeling he won both?

- Daniel Ricciardo in Barcelona in WSR. Think he ended that day with over 30 seconds over the 2nd placed, his pace just blew everyone away.

Lewis Istanbul 2006. Sure, was very risky and the fight back was because of his own **** up but damn.

Lewis Hamilton should have been disqualified in Istanbul 2006 for dangerous driving,
he made a spin, waited only for a very short moment and then turned his car around while other cars
where passing him at high speed, at a very dangerous place.
Like any other race driver, he should have waited until the towards him coming cars
had passed and then turned his car around to continue.

I remember I thought this is a 100 percent disqualification/penalty, to learn
later only politics prevented this ( which is sad ).

that weekend, scoring a perfect weekend, including pole, fastest laps etc, and one day/race with
dry conditions, the other day/race with wet conditions.

though I'm happy they didn't dsq him at least during the race, because the world would be poorer without that awesome highlight video, my favourite ever from Lewis, well, tied with the frickin' joke music clip

OT: didn't someone this year in GP3 won from dead last in silverstone? I think it was Will Buller?

To be honest, I can't recognise too much very impressive race wins from feeder series.

The one that comes to my mind is Bottas victory in GP3 in second race at Nurburgring 2011. He was from 6th on the grid to 1st in the race in just about something like 7 turns.

Yes, it was incredible, especially the wet race! A pity he couldn't repeat such a drive later in F1...

Indeed. Brave driving that early on slicks. From my fuzzy hung over memory (too many Prossecco in the Petrol Head!) sitting at Club a few of them tried the slicks from the start but he just seemed to be on the money that day when finding the grip.

Let's be honest, it's rarely punished.

Ricciardo at Monaco last year. He qualified 6 tenths faster than 2nd and over 1 second faster than Vergne who was in the same car as the person who qualified 2nd.

Lead from the start and never looked anywhere near under pressure.

I look forward to seeing him there if he ever gets a top 6 car.

Sergio Perez, GP2, Abu Dhabi 2010 feature race. Completely dominated that race, regularly over a second faster than anyone else on track. Finished 21 seconds clear of second-placed Turvey. It was a 31 lap race and there was a safety car as well which removed some of his advantage.

One more, it was a long time ago and I didn't follow it closely then, but I remember people raving about Alonso's win at Spa in the year he did F3000 (the 2000 season?).

A very impressive drive, but discussion of this race is irrelevant; Hamilton didn't win - he finished second to Andreas Zuber.

About Hamilton I would add Silverstone sprint race in 2006. Starting 8th he took victory and made the double pass on Piccione and Piquet into Maggots.

I would also add Alonso's Spa F3000 win in 2000 and da Costa's Sunday win in GP3 Hungaroring this year.

What was so special about Alonso's F3000 win? I actually saw a recording of it, it seemed pretty standard for F3000.

Montoya at Pau in 1998, that was impressive. He had some fortunate circumstances that spread out the field, but he slaughtered them.
