I like Pat but it's odd how he seems to have got away with it all. He writes articles in mags, works in F1 and his character doesn't seem to have been tainted by all this.

Symonds is a great asset to Marussia, in fact would have been an asset to any F1 team. Best wishes to him. Briatore will never have a place in any F1 team though. He always was an opportunist, he has HR skills, but nothing else. He has nothing to offer, but his mouth, and that has no value whatsoever.

I was disappointed Marussia just barely got nipped by Caterham towards the end of the season. I'm wondering if having Symonds there might set a solid foundation for Marussia to surpass Caterham if not in 2013, but in 2014 at least.

Personally I feel both he and Flavio should have never been allowed anywhere near the sport again.
But as FiA goofed on the lifetime penalty it's only fair that he re-enters now.

Don't think it will make a HUGE difference as he's been working as a consultant for them the last 2 years.

I do hope however that every time a Marussia crashes the various commentators bring up Singapore 2008 and Symonds' role in it.

Well he's served his time out so I see no problem with him coming back into the sport full time again.

Well he's served his time out so I see no problem with him coming back into the sport full time again.

I have no problem with Pat at all and he comes across as a very like-able bloke but he's never really been away from the sport. The last couple of years he has basically been working for Marussia, officially he was a consultant but i don't think this changes much, other than seeing his face around the paddock.

Seems to have been forgotten that he was offered immunity by MM. If he had accepted it then he would never have been absent from the sport. MM\FIA didn't really care about what happened other than a means to get rid of FB.

By contrast, Mike Coughlan has kept a very low profile. I don't know whether that's due to his nature or the unforgiving nature of Ferrari?
