I will be going to Jerez for testing in Feb, and I would appreciate any info I can get beforehand. Maybe there is a group going I could join.

Thanks

I'm going to the test in January 2014 with Select Motor Sport. I went to the Barcelona test with them a couple of years ago.

Any tips about Jerez? Can you walk around the perimeter of the track?

Thanks :)

I wish they would confirm the dates, I have been checking out flights for the past few months as I really want to go as I loved the testing at Barcelona last year and just as I was about to give in and book the possible delay was suggested by Lotus. I'm sure it won't get moved but I am reluctant to book flights and hotels if it does as I'm not convinced there will be a lot to do in Jerez in January if there is no F1 testing on.

I'm all booked up, anyone had any previous experiences of Jerez testing,

I see the circuit website has the following information...

"The Circuito de Jerez hosts 28 to January 31 the only Formula One test groups programmed in Spanish soil during 2014. The presence of all the teams that are part of the Championship which was first able to see the new cars with new technical specifications that take effect for the 2014 Grand Prix season is expected.
Ticket Prices:
General Admission € 10 (Grandstand X-1)
Grandstand € 20 VIP (Front to the pits)
Note: Entries are per day. The sale will be held at the Jerez Circuit lockers during the days of workouts.
We will expand information."

I thought I saw somewhere that previously you could roam (general admission style) so two stands seems a little :-(

Thinking of doing it.

Flight to Seville, stay in a hotel there and renting a car seems like the best thing to do so far. It's an hours drive, you can fly directly there from LGW and it's far cheaper than staying in Jerez itself.

Not sure if I'm gonna make the effort.

Yeah I'm going to do the London-Seville flight then there's a £10 train into Jerez, massively looking forward to it

Have you been before?

Would be good to hear some tips from those that have been to testing here before.

I finally booked flights and hotel last week, really excited about going even if its not the easiest place to get to, flight to Madrid, then fly on to Jerez and (hopefully) get a taxi to/from the circuit. Barcelona seemed so much simpler last year. I echo others as it would be nice if anyone who has been before can give a bit of advice as there is practically none when I have searched on the internet and I found loads of info before I headed off to Barcelona (and I like to be organised and know what I'm doing). Also does anyone know how easy it is to get a Taxi back from the circuit to the airport? I am seriously tempted to pre-book an airport transfer in case I can't get a taxi on the Friday afternoon as I don't want to end up stranded at the circuit and miss my flight :(

Only 3 weeks to go - will be great to see and hear the new cars!

Are you my brain?! There is a taxi rank at the airport, I know that for one, I've enquired to a place called SunTransfers for transfers to and from the circuit (the train from Seville stops at "Jerez Aeropuerto" for anyone wondering).

And for who asked, no I've never been before!

Emailed a Jerez taxi company, they quoted me €56 return price to the track from the airport (where the train also stops), not bad.

That seems pretty reasonable. I have had 2 quotes from companies offering transfers (£80 and £60) and the hotel I am staying at (near the circuit) offered a transfer for €100.

The Spanish have mandatory taxi fare prices, something like €0.85 per km, so on the face of it, it isn't brilliant, but I'll take it. Hopefully I'll bump into someone on the train and we'll split it!

Just some news, I contacted the maker of this video (awesome video by the way) and asked him how he had such great access to the circuit and the views, and he said the €20 "VIP" ticket (also available this year) which is awesome!
