I can't speak Brazilian, but Luiz Razia to Marussia according to this site who say that it's 'confirmed'.

Well, i don't feel too smug right now...

I'm not sure of her actual job but she worked with JRM in the WEC this season too, at least for one race anyway.

EDIT: Since this discussion has been moved from elsewhere i guess i'll repost this! :drunk:

My guess to replace Timo is Razia. He's been quiet of late, a little too quiet, he also brings a good wedge of money and would be more willing than Senna/Petrov to take a drive at the now tail end charlies.

Wouldn't believe anything just yet, especially with other sites in the past saying someone has got the Force India seat with no confirmation but it looks positive though.

It is certainly a done deal.

Well, Razia had a good season last year. He is not the fastest guy out there, but he showed consistency, nice overtakes and knew how to manage the tyres.

He's not a terrible driver but i think he\s only had 3/4 good points hauls in the feature races, most of his best results were from the reverse grid sprint races which isn't the best way to impress IMO, he has plenty of money though so that wouldn't of hurt his chances, he's been around at GP2 level for more long enough to finally get a decent season together.

If it's true, it will be interesting to see how he goes against Chilton. Even though they will be at the back of the Grid, it will be a battle worth keeping an eye on

I'll believe only when there's an oficial Marussia confirmation. Brazilian press over brazilians drivers... :)

Well, news was confirmed by drivers personal press agent, so I don't think they would make expeculation. Deal is done pending team's making it officially official.

Mmm, two rookies at Marussia, won't help them with progressing but at least it will keep the team alive.

The thing is that Razia was too inexperienced when he first went to GP2. He is 23yo yet. Glock, Maldonado, Grosjean, Valsecch had 25+ when they were champions.

He is 23 (turning 24 shortly) but he was in GP2 for 4 years, i don't thing age is as relevant as experience, the other difference is the above 4 all one the championship reasonably comfortably. (Bar Davide but that was probably one of the contributing factors for him not being consider at all)

If experience in other series has no relevance to GP2, I don't see how they have to F1 and so, it makes no sense to spend time and money in such series.

Huh? I didn't say other experience has no relevance to GP2 but the fact it took him four years to get near the front (in one of GP2's weakest grids ever) doesn't bode well, his record in other series isn't exactly great either.

He is 4 years in GP2 but he haven't had the same amount of prior experience like other drivers did. Thats my point. And I believe the biggest problem in 2011 wasn't he but the Caterham team. He and Valsecchi were **** in 2011 and suddenly both changed teams and delivered.

Anyway, I think he is no star, but he can be a solid driver.

Every single news outlet here in BR saying it's a done deal, Globo TV includided. I'd say it is indeed.

Congratulations to Razia if true. As someone stated above, 2 rookies at Marussia? Don't see how this will help them, had I been Marussia I would have approached a driver with experience and money, Senna, although relatively inexperienced, has still has a couple seasons under his belt. Tell McLaren to foot the bill and put Paffett in the car for a season, he won't bring them any money but he won't cost them any money either, he'd be very helpful for them.

A worthy successor to Alex Yoong, Narain Karthikeyan, Sakon Yamamoto, Jerome d'Ambrosio and the other members of the F1 Rejects Club.

I'm surprised they're desperate enough to have 2 rookies, I thought they'd take a little less paydriver money and settle for Senna or Petrov (my guess was Senna).

I expect Razia to do a little better than Chilton but hardly anything beyond that.

Chilton's daddy paid for his seat. That's who he is.

Razia was probably the best available budgeted driver. Failing to keep the tenth place monies really squeezed them financially. 2 rookies of questionable ability. It's all going to boil down to how much car advantage Marussia can obtain if they want to beat Caterham.

He may not be brilliant, but he's a GP2 runner-up, so he's better qualified than all of those (and Chilton!)

He looked quite good in GP2, very racy.

I bet he is hungry to show the same "racyness". Expect fireworks (good or bad).

Thats selling him short, I think. I'm certainly no fan, but he looked pretty good last year in 2012. Not just fast, but mature racecraft, took care of his tires well. He's competent and certainly not a castaway like most of those you mentioned.

Not saying he'll amount to anything much, but they could do a lot worse. And ya never know. He could always surprise like Kobayashi or Maldonado. The guy is young still. And I'd put money on him being better than Chilton.

Yeah, he's not at Alex Yoong level - and I don't think d'Ambrosio was either, although in fairness I reckon him and Razia is a fair comparison.

The thing that makes me particularly unsure about Razia is that most of his good results came in the sprint races last year. But if Marussia need him to stay afloat then that's their choice, I can't bring myself to get outraged about that.

His sprint race last year at Valencia was pretty good IIRC.

Razia is the most standout GP2 contestant last year.

Shame he went for a team that has no hope to fight for points.

FYI and future reference, in Brazil we speak portuguese, although with a very different accent from the one spoken in Portugal and other countries.

I think he really deserved a chance after improving and maturing a lot in 2012, with some excellent race drives and a runner-up spot in GP2.
