Remember when Vauxhall ran a blue livery on Jason Plato and Yvan Muller's cars at the 2001 BTCC Final?

Worldwide Racing liveried Lotus 56B at the 1971 Italian GP.
I've always wondered if they had already decided by this time that the sponsor branding would change from Gold Leaf to the black and gold of JPS for 1972, or if this was a coincidence.

Supposedly the colour scheme was chosen as a sort of trial for the upcoming switch to JPS black and gold, but rather helpfully I can't remember where I read that.

The Behra-Porsche - a beautiful shade of "French Blue"
In this final form was actually prettier than Porsche's own F2 car - the 718.
The Behra team ran it for over two years before it was overtaken when Formula One went to 1.5 litres. So in level one international motorsport I don't really consider that as "not lasting very long". How long does each model of F1 car last before being obsolete these days?
It would always mix it with the Porsche 718's driven by the lesser drivers (meaning ... not Moss, Hill or Gurney!)
Anyhow,
Cheers all,
Steve

In profile its resemblance to Gordon Murray's LCC Rocket is extraordinary. Or vice versa in fact .

Oh blast! There were sources claiming it was Maria Teresa de Filippis! The Behra-Porsche was rear-engined. The photo shows Juan Manuel Bordeu’s Formula Junior Stanguellini at Monaco in 1959.

I had a feeling Getty Images couldn't be trusted.Getty Images captions are notoriously unreliable, but for them to completely miscaption the Stanguellini photo is unforgivable. Here’s another of their photos, this time genuinely showing de Filippis in the Behra-Porsche:

Clearly the error is caused by both cars being number 4. If captions are written by people with no real knowledge of the cars of that era, a mistake is always possible.
Maria’s car was running with all paint removed, by the look of the photos.

Motorbase Ford Focus, Brands Hatch, 2022 BTCC Finale.
Great livery, pity about the cars and the drivers. Best result was one 16th place over the whole three race weekend!

Now don't get us started, you know that paint removal is a verboten subject on TNF!

Monaco was the Behra-Porsche's first race so probably not yet painted.Clearly the error is caused by both cars being number 4. If captions are written by people with no real knowledge of the cars of that era, a mistake is always possible.

Must say the McLaren MP4-28 in contemporary McLaren livery looks really catchy.
Disagree. I think it looks dreadful, the worst livery Ihave seen on a F1 car for many years. All that black and the 'papaya' looks washed out.

How do they respond to corrections? (Assuming they can be readily contacted that is)

Has the one-off livery Gunnar Nilsson ran on his Lotus 78 at the 1977 Japanese Grand Prix been mentioned?
My personal favourite was late 80s ish, possibly a historic F3 car or FF2000, can’t quite recall, a most beautiful gold and black livery, sponsored by… Dyfed Sludge Removal.

James Hylton, a veteran privateer owner/driver in NASCAR from the 1960's through the 1990's, entered a car with an asymmetrical paint job at a race in Nashville in 1982.
Green on the right (Kawasaki sponsorship) and yellow on the left (Suzuki sponsorship)
NASCAR told him not to bring this paint scheme back, stating that it confused the scorers (all human in those days, no transponders).

Well it is supposed to be a homage to the 1995 and 1996 Ford Mondeo Liveries.
I do love those Mondeos. Shame they were so slow.
Any Valvoline livery gets my though.
