Viewing figures are only of importance to those who are planning to spend money advertising and to those who are trying include existing or and potential advertising revenue at part of a business plan. For everyone else they are just of interest. So don't expect to find statistics about viewing figures just because you'd like to see them - they're not going to be published unless they have value to the F1 business.

The only race which was won ONLY because of tires was China.

You're kidding, right? Barcelona, Valencia, Bahrain, all won due to or because of the interference of tyres.

Tires are the same for everyone. Maximising their grip and minimising their wear has been part of professional racing for decades.

SpeedTV is not free. NBC, in which the races would be shown from this year, is free-to-air.

Only 4 races will be on NBC which is a broadcast channel. All the other races are on the NBC-Sports channel which is a cable channel.

I have Comcast Cable and SPEED/NBC-Sports are part of the basic package. Some people had to upgrade to get SPEED at a further expense.

Make it so I don't have to own cable to watch F1 via cable subscription.

Offer a season package on PC, Mobile, PSN, XBL and Apple TV, and I bet those improve.

How were those races won because of tires? Williams had a good car that worked quite well aerodynamically, and Maldonado out-dueled Alonso.
Valencia had drama because of Renault engines failing. McLaren has always had horrible tire wear and have never been fast there in the Pirelli era.
In Bahrain we had the fastest car win, regardless of tires.

Maldonado was only on pole due to Williams having better tyre interpretation at that time.

If Hamilton hadn't had tire issues in Valencia, or Maldonado, they would've easily caught Alonso.

In Bahrain the Red Bull was the fastest car?! ha, Kimi would've passed if it wasn't for tyres.

Try harder please.

Do the #'s take DVR's into account? Many regular viewers would be recording the race to view later.

interesting to see Brazil as +8.9%
it's easy to have access to F1 here (all the races, well, apart from the US GP, are FTA with no commercial breaks), but I have read news recently that go strongly against this claim

some quick google search (in Portuguese, sorry)
http://f5.folha.uol....-na-globo.shtml

so I have no idea how accurate this is,

The way the figures are made up, it is 15 minutes over 20 races. So if you watch 45 seconds of F1 on a sport summary each race, you are counted as viewer? I guess the real numbers are way lower. Ie, people who watched at least 1-2 races for more than one hour.

The Paychannel thing is Bernie's last act, he wants the big TV-contracts done. That he sells a hollow shell in the end is not his problem (see the track difficulties if not payed for by some rich oil dude or government).
F1 is moving harder and harder away from it's original fanbase. They get some new fans, but they will lose their promotors within families.
If I was 8 years old now, how would I find F1 if my dad would not have payTV?

I guess pay tv is a factor but that more and more races are all over the world is a reason for the decline.

this.
