The two biggest components of an F1 team are the driver and the car designer. (Don't waste time arguing with me, I don't know what I'm talking about).

We hear a lot about drivers and their nationalities, and where teams are based, but I think it would be interesting to see more about the car designers. They could be included alongside the drivers on the grid position graphic for example.

Does anyone know who these people are for the 2013 cars, or where I can find out?

As the cars are designed by teams of up to 100 people, that would grossly undervalue alot of the teams contribution.

That site lists technical directors, designers, and aerodynamicists for each team.

Adrian Newey is the Chief Technical Officer of Red Bull, but widely regarded as responsible for any innovations on the car.

But I guess for other teams there isn't one person with such a strong "apparent" input on things?

Red Bull also has Podromou, and their track correlation guy Sordo, all of whom do significant contributions to car performance. Saying something like the RB9 is 'Newey's work' will rather displease the dozens of other engineers who design, simulate and refine concepts and parts.

And most of the designers and engineers are only as good as the software they use.
Maybe we should rate all the fluid dynamics packages... :drunk:

A team designs the car
The team can be over 500 people
Are we trying to rank them by importance?
