Monaco 2006 should be on the list due to Raikkonen's fiery retirement and subsequent 'walk back to the pits' which included a pit stop of its own, on a yacht of course complete with a selection pretty girls and beer!

Drivers don't need to be weighted if they retire?
He probably filled himself with beer there ;p

this.
at the time, I couldn't believe my eyes, and I still scarcely can

interesting to note how each team mate is one place behind another...

An obvious one, but still amusing (if a little awkward knowing what's about to be said):

I have to admit, Abu Dhabi 2010 really made me chuckle a bit.

The aftermath of the Brazilian GP in 2008 for me, the petulant Ferrari mechanic ramming his head through the side of the garage being the best bit...

That is probably the single & funniest climax to ever end a season.

I was in tears (of laughter) when I first saw it.

I love the reaction from Massa's dad after he headbutts the thing.

That was hilarious. He retires from the race and what does he do? Jumps on a Yacht with some mates and begins to start sinking booze...

I've always said moments like this show just how fine the line is between success and failure in F1. Errors are judged by their consequence rather than by the error itself. Some examples...

Alonso Monaco '10 - Crashing in practice isn't that bad but because the chassis cracked it is remembered. Had the chassis not cracked nobody would care...same error but because of the consequence it is perceived as being bigger than it is.

Vettel Abu Dhabi and Brazil '12 - He had multiple incidents in the opening laps of Abu Dhabi and was lucky to continue on lap 1 Brazil. Had his suspension broke when Senna hit him the error from Vettel would have been the exact same but he would have been judged more harshly because of it's consequence.

Alonso Silverstone Quali '12 - Almost hit the wall, red flag saved him but he's remembered for the great pole. Such fine margins between hero and zero.

Hamilton China '07 v Spa '11 - Slid wide into the gravel on inappropriate tyres in the wet. One he got stuck, the other he very narrowly missed a wall and made it out. One if remembered and the other completely forgotten.

I hope that makes some kind of sense! We're a fickle bunch and all too often we judge based on the consequence rather than the error itself.

Good post.

One little thing, for LH, you must be referring to Spa '10.

When Ralf Schumacher was left on the grid with the front of the car still jacked up :)

Simply how does that happen ?

A restart at Spa when he was with Williams I think.

What the "oh, we got caught out celebtrating before the race had finished and now we look like idiots and have to throw our toys out of the pram" feeling?

I sympathise that Massa came so close, but if you celebrate before the job's done you deserve the consequences... like that snow boarder showboating at the Winter Olympics thinking her gold was in the bag, then stacking hard in an arrogant pile of failure!

Celebrating early? Bad idea!

From the TV coverage, it doesn't seem as if Ferrari celebrated prematurely, just wrongly. Like others, including myself at the time, you got so dragged into the fact that Hamilton must overtake Vettel, that you forgot that Glock, Raikkonen or Alonso would provide a similiar result.

Crowd had the same reaction too. James Allen called it correctly - Radio 5 did not.

Okay seriously guys,

I might not be one of the most active “lurkers” lately, but is it just me or is just about every recent video thread has been started by Harry? or did he show any sort of activity in other discussions?

Based on my experience, countless videos were removed right after being mentioned on these boards even the ones that’s been up for ages.

Or am I wrong?

It didn't matter if he was on the jacks or not. He was not allowed to start the lap by the team.

I fail to see how Massa's family celebrating too early has anything to do with Massa deserving the title or not.

On a similar note (if you think celebrating before the finish line is too early what about a lap early? :) ): http://www.youtube.c...tailpage#t=315s

Sorry, I had a bit to drink last night. :stoned:

And to the conspiracy theorist, I am not affiliated with FIA, I just enjoy watching videos related to the discussion. Is that so bad?

If not for the tragedies you could essentially nominate much of the 1981 and 1982 seasons.

Early 1981 had classic moments with rules changing and the FISA-FOCA bickering, especially related to Brabham's active suspension. After a lot of confusion there was at least one event where the teams were trying to jury rig similar copycats and cars were going around with random corners sticking up in the air.

There was also Reutemann and Arnoux conspicously ignoring team orders to give up wins at Brazil 81 and France 82 and the half grid/Ferrari controversy at Imola 82, Ferrari's double wing at Long Beach, Brazil 82 disqualifications with the water weight, etc.
