I don't think I've posted one of my "I despise Kyle Busch" rants here, and I won't bother anyone with one now. I'll simply say that it is so sad that such a supremely talented driver is also a massive jackass. I admire his skills and determination to win every time I see him race, but he is always doing something off the track (and sometimes on it) that makes me happy when he finds the wall or has a mechanical failure. He was in a class of his own today.

I give up with the NASCAR site. Why have a site covered in access to videos and photographs but no means of viewing the results of practice?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. And reading through the thread, I'm not sure there's 1 person who likes the site. I don't think I've ever gotten it to work correctly. It crashes every time I open it with IE and its always buggy with Chrome. I use Firefox mostly but even in that, half the time the vids never finish loading (and I've updated all my flash players, etc). It's an ugly site as well. It's way too hard to navigate to find any useful information. The site is one giant media dump. I like a variety of sports so I frequent many sites and I can say the new NASCAR.com is the worst site of any major sport. I can easily see why OLB is upset. If I paid for service like that, I'd be ballistic.

There will be 12 mentions of, clips will be shown as they cut to commercial in the pre-race, and someone will try to hype the hell out of it if they come within 2 car lengths of each other.
But by the end of the race there will be no incident. At most we'll be forced to watch slo-mo's of them hugging it out.

Oh, almost forgot. Waltrip will jump out of his seat time and again as the manually-controlled gyro-cam tilts to a barely noticeable 8 degrees.
Off to bed!

NASCAR put up a YouTube of the final lap(s) onboard with Johnson, including victory lap and burnout. The gyro-scam was screwing around even after the checkers.

As one of the broadcaster pointed out as great as Kyle has been in Nationwide still takes the alliance with Gibbs to make it happen.

Looks like they have come full circle on the question of him doing non-Cup races during weekends - there was a quote from his crew chief/team about them being more focused on weekends where do Nationwide. Edwards also changed his schedule in Nationwide last year and it didn't lead to any improvement in Cup.

On the other end of the spectrum a rare appearance for Johnson, and a good battle with Larson. Something that we could see more of in Cup down the road if Larson's progression continues.

KyBu is an odd man to guess on though. Sometimes what affects others affects him in the opposite way :/ Guess we're gonna have to see, eh?

Jayski.com always has a countdown clock to the start of the next race on the right side. It's either Start Your Engines or Green Flag Time, but basically the point at which you could start watching and miss nothing.

Yeah give us the Daytona 500 By Radio recap. It will be more entertaining than pre-race coverage.

One thing I learned listening to the race on radio is they have 5 reporters for different sections of the track (4 turns + trioval). And they all had different ideas to how much coverage Danica should be getting. For 10 seconds the guy in Turn 1 would be mentioning Danica as much as he could and then the guy who called the race down the back stretch would go out of his way not to mention her, then the guy in turn 3 would ruin everything by talking about her again. And repeat, for 200 laps.

So THAT's what Jp was lecturing earlier this week....

The engine problem JP referenced above - the second one in as many races - could be an interesting early test of his resolve. Expect an entertaining interview if he winds up in the garage or with a bad finish out of it...

I thought Hamlin was starting at the back because of engine issues after qual?

Here's hoping i have better luck with todays drivers than yesterday, or at least it lasts longer than 2 laps for 2/3 of them ;)

hmm, okay so they do it after the formation laps... strange.

Awh I like Larry Mac but I had forgotten how much he sounds like a commentator from a video game, repeating from a list of 8 or 9 generic factoids that could apply to any driver or track.

"Turns 1 and 2 are different from 3 and 4, that's what makes this place special"

"The sun is starting to come out, that should give these drivers a little something extra to think about"
