By that logic Alonso was entirely at fault in Suzuka for moving over too early on Raikkonen, right? Gosh people like you know nothing about F1. You know the stewards gave Karthekayan a penalty, right? And I said dismissing Texas, as in it's not even pertinent to the discussion because P2 there would've gotten Vettel the championship.

Yep, you also.
Pertinent? Now, back to the topic. Will you miss him?

I'll miss him, because I dont think he ever really was given a decent shot in a car that was capable.

In 2005, he was a rookie in a team on it's last legs. In 2011 & 2012, he was at the arse-end of the grid and short of whipping Pedro he was on a hiding to nothing from the get go.

I'd have liked to see him get the Force India gig this year, tbh. If he'd got smashed by Di Resta and been dropped after 4 or 5 races, at least he'd have truly been given a shot in a decent seat.

In a way, good-riddance to him and please stay away. However on the other side as somebody else had alluded to in this thread, he never really had been given a good solid drive. Teams on there last legs seem to be his forte and his Millions in funding probably helped get him in a seat. I would of liked to have seen him in a Force India this year though just because there is a possibility he could be quick. An Indian driver for a team (supposedly) Indian orientated would of been a PR nightmare and offered a lot of money to the team which is rumoured to the struggling with finance. This added with he really got on peoples nerves I might miss him. Just a small bit, like really small.

No. Although I don't really feel it is fair to judge drivers based on back of the grid drives, F1 isn't a sport about being 'fair'.

If Nahrain had had the talent I think he would have got a better shot at some point in his career, and he didn't. His financial backing got him some drives, I hope he had some fun out there, nothing came of it, and the world moves on.

I miss see Narain in a Williams late 90's or anhoter competative car when he was in his prime.
Jordan 05 or HRT 12 was to little to late.

Yep, much more than likes of Kobayashi or Glock. Driving wheels off most hopeless car ever he deserved some respect. His short run in 6th place in Malaysia was a miracle of the season. I don't understand why Sutil came back, he's finished his business already. Narain deserved his big chance.

roflmao

erm .... no

One can argue that Sutil had unfinished business ... One can argue Glock was pushed out because he made the wrong choice not to take the Renault offer.. One can argue that Koba just needed to be polished a bit... but there is no redeeming quality for Narain... sorry ... nope .. cyas Thank you DO NOT come again ...

No, he's been around for far too long already, with nothing to show except for his endless bag of money.

It seems incredible to me, but the guy really appears to have backers and some real 'aficionados'... Good for him! I, for my part, can only pray: 'Give us day by day our daily cucumber...NOT'

if a driver like kovalainen or chilton can have so called backers or 'aficionados' , then you should not be at all surprised to have some for karthikeyan

I have never met a Chilton backer yet... But what has Kovalainen to do with it? I mean, he was never a paydriver, is a race winner, has feared pretty well against team mates like Fisichella and Trulli (also race winners btw ) and had much better results pre-F1. The next step to throwing his name in this discussion here would be comparing Hamilton to Monteiro and Martinez de la Rosa, maybe... :p

Yeh that wasn't me though.
I was the guy who argued with you when you so adamantly predicted Karthakeyan would end Paul DiResta's career.

Well what are you trying to say? Bullshit has been called. You should address it or take it in good grace.

Regarding the original question the camera rarely follows backmarkers unless they crash or are being lapped so how can anyone really 'miss' what they didn't see?

Is there anyone here who has properly followed Narains career and his performance at the race weekends he has taken part in? I mean really followed, and checked and analysed, much as many will do for Alonso, Kimi, Hamilton etc? How did he really fare against his teammate last year? It didn't look good, but since the stats never tell the whole story, is there a fan who can write eloquently in defence of Narain? Is there a reason we should mourn his passing into the world of sports cars and endurance events?

No. Karthikeyan is not someone I will miss at all. I dont think many in F1 will miss him TBH.

 Because I don't like Grosjean I am a neo-nazi?

Educate yourself and stop making yourself look foolish.

how ironic!! You realise how foolish you look with your vendetta against Grosjean, right?

I missed Narain's Jordan days. Never really converted his raw pace into solid performances. His comeback was a surprise and a wasted one. With his aggressive driving style in this era of pirelli tyres and a GP2 like HRT car he did not belong in F1.
It is still a massive achievement for him to be in F1 coming from India. Karun is a good commentator.

Do you think, maybe theres a reason that only teams on their last legs were interested in him and his money?
Maybe he was a good fit for Force India then?

Because I didn't think the Lotus 88 was a neo-nazi car? How foolish of me!

Keep on crying Grosjean supporters, your whining becomes less connected to reality every day.

As for Narain, he did have a prime in 2005. But 7 years is a long time in F1. Even Schumacher lost his edge in that time and Narain was never even a pimple on Schumacher's butt cheek.

I didn't follow him, but went through his 2012 results once and the few times he was not last it was because of crashes of other drivers in the last laps or similar reasons if I recall correctly. He is simply not on the level of De La Rosa in my opinion. At least for 2012 I believe there is not much one can say to his defence.

He was comprehensively beat by de le Rosa in all but a 2-3 Grand Prixs when they both finished, sometimes not even finishing on the same lap as him, and qualifying half a second down or more on a occasions. Both drivers were usually running there own races rather than fighting between themselves.

I followed all the drivers and teams, as I wrote reviews about them for a website.
