Also the frantic switching between live timing on laptop and pictures on tv, the feeling of helplessness and hope as a driver trundles towards his pit box, and the emotional relief when the chequered flag falls and its a good result.

there's a poll here, RBR is voted the car to beat by a large margin despite a testing season that tells you nothing.

It'll be really interesting to see how Hamilton copes with having what is presumably going to be a less than ideal car, and how Perez copes with being in the spotlight of a top team (particularly in qualifying). Being a couple tenths off will be a lot more costly if it happens in a Mclaren than in a Sauber.

Vettel vs. Alonso - The two best drivers will once again engage in battle for the WDC. If Alonso wins he solidifies his status in this era, if Vettel wins he enters legendary status for all-time.

Hmm difficult; I see Vettel being rated always by certain posters in P5 in the current group, whilst majority of posters systematically, on this forum anyway, placing him in P3, thus how he can jump from THAT to a legendary status (which BTW is denied even to M. Schumacher by the same people), is hard to see. I do like and respect Vettel, and I think he has in him to go to distance, but I gave up on hatred and lack of recognition. I wish him focus and steady push, which he has so aptly demonstrated several times already.

In my observation Alonso and Hamilton are both overrated (for various reasons), but barring some nasty tire-related surprises, it will be close this year. I do expect stewards to scrutinize Vettel more than any time before, and more than rest (Grosjean might be an exception), while reliability with tire-factor might be two vectors deciding this year championship.

Yeah, "all he needs". Like it was nothing... to your info, there are no points for qualifying. This whole debate about "out qualifying" means nothing, if one driver is 3th in WDC beating his teammate with 207 points to 96.

Massa will beat Alonso this year - all he needs is to be quicker then Alonso See? Makes exactly no sense like your post ;).

There's a big difference between beating someone on raw pace and beating someone on consistency. It's easier to teach a fast driver how to be consistent, than it is to teach a consistent driver how to be fast.

Agree. If there's anything the business-makers of F1 learned from the Schumi era was that any driver or team dominating the sport for too long is not good for their pockets. Expect some bias towards popular teams and/or drivers that haven't won championships lately.

You sir, have no clue about F1. This sport is primarly about consistency. Being quicker on one lap, then being slower on next five doesnt bring you much forward. Also, it doesnt work that way with "it's easier to teach". Fast driver can loose his speed if he start to become consistent, exactly like when consistent driver becomes quicker, losing his consistency. It's always a compromise. Grosjean was maybe in 2-3 races quicker then Kimi, but in the last 17 he crashed or was just slower. And only that counts in F1, nothing more. This is a fact, and the rest is only your opinion .

But seeing your avatar i can understand frustration about Kimi being the last Ferrari champion. Lets hope it stays like that for as long as with Jody Scheckter.

- where the tyres will actually allow for some racing
- that teams won't sacrifice Q3 so that they will have fresh tyres for the race and would rather start south of P11

In addition to my previous wishes, I'd love the WDC to be a four-man battle between Williams and McLaren drivers. Sauber and FI would be the WDC #3 and #4 teams, both winning at least one race. And Ferrari and RBR would be behind Caterham and Marussia in final points.

FFS, for 2013 atleast say what each team really expects, there is too much playing down going on, which is annoying

e.g

RBR - give us the WCC/WDC or we'll take it anyway ... Sieg Heil

Ferrari - We'll chase all year round and fail at the last moment

MClaren - car will be fast and we'll Fu** it up anyway

Mercedes - we'll start good but abandon the car mid season and concentrate on Roscoe

Lotus - we have no Fu**ing idea what or where we are

Williams - 1/2 race win, nothing more, need money

Sauber - don't expect wins from us

FI - VJM, please go away

STR - we're the expected Q1 victims and expect both our drivers to be replaced at the end of season

CT - we'll continue from where we ended last season ... i.e sucking

MR - give Money, Have seat
