Tell me another "rookie" who has had the best car on the grid in his first race

Hamilton

McLaren weren't the best car in Melbourne 2007, second best to Ferrari. I have already had this little debate with you, though.

okay, you have an agenda here.

It's plain obvious that those doesn't mean anything at all as Pastor was on different programs and not looking for hotlaps unlike Bottas who was solely there to do that(hot laps and impress)

Maldonado only crashed in Valencia and Australia and was fighting for 3rd and 5th if I'm not mistaken. He lost a podium in Singapore due to his car breaking, that was very gutting. Not to mention his brilliant win

Bottas is no special talent and Maldonado is gonna show it this year, I'm calling it

You are the one with the agenda here. Most of the time they were running similiar programs, confirmed by the team.

I never saw the team confirming anything along those lines but I've already read that they were on different programs, which is what to be expected from teams as that's what they usually do over the weekend in order to have the best preparations.

You also have an agenda, but thankfully, the season is starting and Maldonado will shown up Bottas on the qualifying sessions :D

Uhm, they many times had similar program, this was indeed confirmed by the team! Bottas also only had just one set of tyres in use and he couldn't do much setup work for himself as the car was mainly done to Senna.

Yes I have an agenda considering Bottas, not trying to deny that. :p Also I'm not expecting Bottas to beat Maldonado in the first few races. But we will see at the end of the year who comes out on top and I believe you will be surprised.

1994 - Frentzen, Panis, Verstappen, Beretta and Ratzenberger

I'm pretty sure there were a lot more than 5 rookies in 94.

Who cares if they were. Their mindset was completely different. Bottas was probably pushing to impress the team while Maldonado probably barely cared about practice 1.

I hate Maldonado but the guy is bloody quick and I dont think Bottas will keep up with him on qualifying, however during the race...

Bottas - Invisible but better than Pastor in a dog of a car. 0.3 up on Pastor in Q1.
Gutierrez - Embarrassing in Q1, slow and pretty anonymous in the race. No benchmark though because of Nico's issue. Almost 2 seconds behind in Q1. They swapped out Koba for this? :o
Bianchi - Nice drive, clearly fastest of the bottom 4 by 0.8 seconds.
Chilton - Out-driven by Bianchi, but not the slowest.
VDG - Pretty bad all around, slowest on race day.

Bianchi is the best rookie by far and there on talent. We will see about Botas, but Giego was pretty poor as too was Max.
