Agreed. What I don't like is why the journo's are always setting Hamilton up. It's like Totto Wolf just said the other day - he doesn't understand why the media portray him like that.

Its because he is news worthy and thus makes his a sexy subject to create click-bait headlines around.

"I have been thinking to build a museum. It was my dad's idea. It would be cool to have somewhere – in Stevenage or London, I don't know – where we could have one of the cars from every year that I have driven and have the trophies up so that people can see them. There's no point in having them all in your house where no one can see them."

"So, Hamilton says he wants a low profile but he has painted his £20m private jet red. And he carries a dog with him, which must be as distracting as being accompanied by a small child. Mercedes are slowly discovering just what they have taken on. This driver comes with baggage."

The solution to this is simple - Lewis should just set up the private red jet plane with a section for all his trophies and stuff. And when he flies from city to city for the races he can charge a couple bucks for all his fans to come through and see all the hardware and they will be able realize just how great Lewis really is. They could even pet the dog. Perfect! Then Lewis could even take his big red air museum on tours in the off season, drop in on car shows, fairs, or show up when the circus is in town.

(The big bonus is that Lewis can take all the money earned and put it toward jet fuel for his trips across to America to see the girlfriend.)

Have you been writing guardian articles Halifax?! Because a non-sports Guardian journalist has picked up on the interview in a similar tone...!

that's one of the worst articles I've ever read, not surprising as it is a guardian columnist, but still particularly poor from them.

It's exactly what I expected to happen

Stuff like this will come and haunt you in the press later

Also from the other side one well known driver and well liked driver who is a bit short with the press is also a rude b*stard to everyone in his team and everyone around him. Not actually very nice at all despite what people think.

Let me guess, Kimi?

Not going to claim to have written that article robefc!

Is a journalist actually allowed to refer to someone as a 'kaleidoscope minded loon'? Seems like a risky move to me.

Funny how that driver can do exactly that and say whatever he likes and F1 fans eat it all up like a bowl of porridge while Lewis gets his torn for the slightest honesty.

Lol Quote: Mercedes are slowly discovering just what they have taken on. This driver comes with baggage.

Bernie will take care of that baggage:

"He has - and, yes, he will get it. I am a huge fan of bulldogs," Ecclestone, 82, told the official formula1.com website on Wednesday.

"I have told him that I would also be happy giving the dog a pass for the grid. And I will be happy to look after the dog while he is racing."

From what I've read Marina Hyde is known to write articles this way. I see the angle she's coming from. Lewis probably doesn't realise how things may sound to the average person when he says them. Say the whole thing about him changing the jet if his dog makes a mess in it. He was probably joking but someone may see it as extreme materialism. The average person will get down on their knees and scrub away, at least I did when my dog made a mess on the carpet. This is why most people that are in the public eye mostly "celebrities", actors, performers etc have publicists.

The Guardian's paper readership is drastically falling (you can;t rely on naive sociology students forever), hence why are they are trying Daily Mail tactics of writing any old tosh to gain hits for their website.

Well I wasn't there so I don't know how he said it. And that is an example of what I said in the rest of my post. About perception that is.

I wasn't there but I still know how he said it. How could it not be a joke?? She's obviously clever enough to get it, she just has the mother of a malicious agenda.

I don't think her intelligence is at question here. Apparently this is her style of writing.

With regard to the bulldog, I don't think it's a first - didn't Micahel Schumacher used to take his German Shepherds to the some of the races? Still - I don't know if the dogs would like it - my dog cringes under the table any time there's thunder - don't know what she'd make of an F1 car going by...

I was picking up on your post :"Lewis probably doesn't realise how things may sound to the average person when he says them. Say the whole thing about him changing the jet if his dog makes a mess in it. He was probably joking..."

Making out that Lewis is at least partly at fault.

He isn't. Clearly it is Marina Hyde doing her spite all on her own.

Probably not much in a sound-proofed motorhome
