Have you ever listened to Sly speak, he has a very weird accent with a thick baritone.
I'm a Senna fan and it took me a while to say it correctly. For him to just mention it, is good enough for me.
What's sad is that the movie will suck. To bad he and Bernie couldn't get along, I'd like to see a new F1 movie. I'm wearing out my copy of Grand Prix.

However, I think he's saying "nice" things at the moment just to market his flick. Spin-doctoring lives!

When was the last time Moore and Senna were mentioned on American mainstream tv???
Been a while.
We should thank Stallone for even just that.

Reduced to defending Stallone!
Lessee,
How many permutations are there for Senna?
I-ARE-TON
I-eer-TEN
AIRTON
AYRETOON
GOD IS GREAT, BUT I AM BETTER...hehehehe
Oops, that's just the way I remember the arrogant little smuck, sorry...

Who cares?
Oh, pa? How do you pronounce your nick?
"Pah"?
"PEE AAA"?
"paw"?
I'll put this idiotic thread in the "People with nothing to do or bitch about, so they create a problem and hope other weak minded people join them" file.

NYR - the last time Moore was mentioned on a late nite show that im aware of is on Letterman while speaking to Montoya in Late 99 and Senna was mentioned just before the US Gp in 2000 also on Letterman while he was talking to Eddie Irvine. Just some trivia!

What im disapointed in not seeing is the Senna movie which was talked about a few years ago. It was supposed to be directed by Rene Harlin and possibly star Antonio Banderas but nothing ever happened.

back. Gee, they really loved hurling tumbling CG champcars
directly at the camera. They must've feature 5 variations
on the theme in the trailer. It looks like it'll be like the
last Stallone/Harlin effort "Cliffhanger", good to great action
sequences brought to a screaching halt by (unintentially) funny bad dialogue and a hamfisted story line. I'll probably see
it although I have very low expectations.
The plot sounds suspiciously like Rocky IV, except Rocky
drives a Champcar.

Harjola has never been directing dialogues - action movie built around Sly to be expected.

That bastard... How dares he be a Senna fan

And how dares he make a racing film

He surely deserves to be crucified

Common!! What are acknowledged to be two of the greatest racing films ever by most fans, Grand Prix and Lemans, weren't exactly Oscar material as far as script and acting were concerned.
All I'm hoping for is really great footage and really great sound!

hell, atleast there is some F1 news and races. CART went to sleep for 4 weeks.. and the season just began!

PS
Stallone has a medical problem with a facial muscle.. it affects his apperance and speech.

His reference to Greg Moore's accident as happening 'last year' was inaccurate.
He should try the Charlie Rose show next, it's a more relaxed environment. Or perhaps those sports channel talk shows.. atleast they can rap about boxing instead of oscar awards

Speaking of that, it's "Guh-jel-mim"; "Cris-tee-ah-no dah Mah-ta", "En-reek-key Bernoldi", ...

(Disclaimer - this member has no shares or interest in the Stallone movie)
Anyway, until I actually see the film, I'll reserve judgement. JPMCrew makes a good point, it might actually be really well shot with some good racing sequences. That in itself would be worth putting up with a terrible script.

Strange... I always think it was:
Ayrton Senna da Silva, Mauricio Gugelmin, Cristiano da Mata, Enrique Berlnodi

But the best I heard until now is the ESPN commentator saying:
Emerson Fittipaldi

because of that they are "Emmo" and "Big Mo"

but, they can't say our words correctly! and we can't say theirs! we can't, they can't! what's the problem? it didn't matter at all

It's fine to me! I think our TV commentators aren't speaking MS, MH, HHF, and all the others correctly too

Well because of that big-time racing fan he is, he decided to partner in the Rahal Cart team. BTW the interview he made with Coulthard was great.

rodrieguez?
No we just mention the famous ones to draw in fans. far better would be "those who have died in racing"
I stopped caring about driven the second I saw champ cars on the road. At that point I decided it could **** off.

He mentioned their names (and miss-pronunced Ayrton), but even worst he could not explain why these drivers should be rememebered and respected. He tried to get into an explanation and then assumed people wouldn't understand, but considering Greag Moore and Dale are extremely popular in the US, I wonder if instead he had any cloue why these guys should be remembered....and how perfectly PC, an F1 driver, a CART driver and a NASCAR driver.....hey folks, no matter what you follow, Mr. Sly understands you......

His death didn't make the news here in NYC, but when Earnhardt died we had round the clock coverage.
I think what Stallone did was a great gesture and that's that.

Regarding his quote, he's damned either way. When he mentions deceased drivers, he's slammed as a Hollywood arsehole who is doing it for marketing purposes. If he hadn't mentioned anything, he'd be slammed as a Hollywood arsehole who doesn't even know enough about racing to realise that Senna, Earnhardt and Moore are dead. Kind of a no-win situation for the guy.
I suspect 'Driven' will be poor, just like every other racing movie has been. If Stallone makes a movie that appeals to the hardcore fans, he's playing to a small minority and losing the bigger audience. If he aims the movie towards the general public, hardcore fans will slam it as being 'fake' or 'unrealistic'. Again, a no-win situation. Motor racing and other highly-specialised professional sports don't make good subjects for movies. Boxing is perhaps the sole exception.
